I feel like it has been time to add the F14D for a very long time now. It’s a very nice and memorable plane.

with the way aim54s are rn unless it gets a missile it only tested like aim120 its kinda just an f14b with a better radar and thats it

its like them adding the A-10C. about 5 years later than it should have, and will be almost useless when it gets added.
So, it would be like adding an F-18 after the release of fighters like the Rafale and Typhoon?

yep.
only way - give it quite low BR for it’s capabilities. for example F-14D with AMRAAMs to 13.3. Mostly that would even make sense, since F-14D lacks HMD and etc, which impacts a lot, but still, thats lower “bar”
the 14d could not use the amraams
only few things limited it from usage - software update and launchers.
same thing as like R-27ER on Su-27S and MiG-29(9-13)

they never integrated the required software/hardware to use the amaraams. They tesested it but they went a different route and never implemented the system for the 14d to use them.
