Should the F-4E Phantom II be replaced?

So the F-4E Phantom II’s actually carry more weapons. So they should replace it with F-4B Phantom II instead because the F-4E Phantom II actually would play like the F-4F ICE Phantom

It really would not, afaik the F4E doesn’t have pulse doppler nor ARH missiles.

If F-4E from USA tech tree. currently lack Paveway I (GBU-10/B, GBU-11/B & GBU-12/B) laser guided bomb, AN/AVQ-23A/B Pave Spike pod, and AIM-9J-1 sidewinder

F-4B radar (AN/APQ-72) lack look-down & shoot-down capability

Domestic USA F-4 Phantom II armed & launch AIM-7 Sparrow only

F-4 from Hellenic & Germany armed AIM-120

just add the f4b into a folder with the f4c

lolwat? F-4E’s radar is still the same.
And all F-4E can get is 9Ls which would make it 12.3.

it gets aim 9js actually ignore this I read L and thought it said E…

If this post is more about the lack of A2G ordnance, the F-4E could arguably get it already if we had to compare it to the Kurnass 2000.

The Kurnass for only .3 higher BR in ground battles gets… 200 extra countermeasures, all aspect IR missiles 2 of which can be carried with Mavericks equipped, IIR guided Mavericks, a targeting pod (no FLIR, but miles better than using a fixed zoom TV sight) and a look-down capable radar (though no SARH to fully capitalize on it).

So comparatively I can imagine, the F-4E at 11.0 (ground BR) can get a TGP as well and laser guided bombs too at the least. Now the problem is, I think the Kurnass 2000 is a bit undertiered when it comes to its ground BR already. A TGP + 65Ds is a very efficient combo, even without FLIR, especially at its low BR. So I think the F-4E would (or should) get bumped to 11.3 in ground if it gets a TGP, etc. And the Kurnass 2000 should probably be 11.7.

When it comes to better missiles etc, I don’t agree with all that. It is okay at where it is now when it comes to air RB BR wise, other phantoms like the 4J already fill the better armed phantom role, which can actually also use them since it has a PD radar. When it comes to all-aspect missiles, again I don’t recommend it, flares deal with them easily enough and you just a get a really high BR where you are completely useless otherwise (see Kurnass 2000 again, it’s not that great in air and it gets Pythons instead of 9Ls even).

My guy not to be rude, don’t think you understand quite what you’re talking about…

The F-4E was upgraded quite a bit over time, even receiving the Aim-9L (maybe even Aim-9M) and Aim-7Ms, as well as having a upgraded radar and avionics further down the line.

The F-4E ingame represents a specific time period that the F-4E existed in, what we need to do is redesignate it as the F-4E (Early) and add an F-4E and F-4E (Late) counterparts. Later F-4E variants also have the ability to use the Pave Track pod and Paveway bombs, so great CAS options there

The F-4B would play more like an F-4C with flares more than anything else, as it would lack the agile eagle package and be limited to Aim-7Es and Aim-9Es, rather than Aim-7E-2s and Aim-9Js (might have the Aim-9Ds, but idk if it had any)

Good point. So there is a F-4E (Late) version?

It doesnt represent a certain point in time. It is a frankenstein of what could fit in the game at the time of its addition, and then been held back because the devs are too lazy to add an F-4D to replace it at its current BR.

I’d say F-4J instead because the B was a Navy one

There’s multiple version honestly, the F-4E was upgraded numerous times throughout its service, and we might need to add a few with time stamps attached to the name, such as F-4E (1970), etc.

Well frankly it should, as there’s quite a few variants of it from my understanding. It’s either that or give it everything it had historically and add dynamic BRs based on loadouts.

For USAF F-4C & F-4D

Mid 80’s from Air National Guard service

The only reason it hasn’t gotten its corrections is “it would leave a hole at X BR”. It the same line parroted over and over in the game. The difference here, as with many other places, is there is something to fill the hole. The F-4Ds recieved upgrades to essentially make the the F-4E currently ingame, just with no internal gun.

And if the F-4E recieved the TISEO it should have with its current armaments/upgrade level, and its radar upgrades, it would be on a level to be comparable to other aircraft with AIM-7Fs and AIM-9Ls with shoot down radars. It would also sit at a BR where a strong multirole CAS aorcraft wouldn’t be an issue for it to get all of its correct ground stores.

F-4E Block 53 ~ 60 for USAF equipped AN/ASX-1 TISEO (Target Identification System, Electro-Optical)

I might believe gaijin no problem remodel F-4E from USA tech tree to Block 53

I might hope gaijin add F-4D hybrid 1969 ~ 1973. Air-to-Air armament, Mk 1 mod 0 guided weapon (AGM-62A Walleye I, AGM-12C Bullpup & Mk 84 EO Guided Bomb (GBU-8) like F-4E from USA tech tree but no AGM-65B Maverick & GBU-15(V)1/B and different laser designator targeting pod

There was this suggestion which got passed in late May last year. Might wanna check it out!
