With the upcoming update, the AIM-120D AMRAAM, in one variant or another, is coming and confirmed for a new variant of an existing aircraft.
The F-15CGE, currently as it stands, goes against superior adversaries, particularly the SU-30SM and SU-30SM2.
Should it, alongside of the mentioned new aircraft, receive the AIM-120D to be more competitive in the current top tier meta?
The only reason I believe the F-15C GE shouldn’t get 120Ds is because it should work as a technological gap between the F-15C MSIP II and the F-15EX.
If you give it 120Ds, the plane would have to be raised in BR in exchange of a few tangible advantages.
I believe the F-15CGE, as the last single seater F-15, should be given a chance to remain relevant into the fifth gen transition. As it is now, it is a step short of a ‘good’ aircraft in my opinion, and would benefit from new missiles.

It would still lose in most metrics to EFs, Rafales, and the Su-30SM2 every single time. At least the F-15EX gets real close to eurocanards and true 4.5 gen performance.
I just don’t see where the F-15C GE gets a real edge when also its radar ghosts more than other AESA radars.
We are most likely getting the EX this patch. So I don’t think the 15C GE should get the 120D.
POBIT with 6 missiles is not 14.7 worthy. That’s why I think we will get the EX.
I just feel single seat F-15s should be given a last gasp before the full transition to the F-15E/EX and into fifth gen’s.
So, indeed, there is no reason to not give it that when it is already being forced to face those.
If it results in a BR increase I don’t want it on the 15C GE.
A 14.3 → 14.7 increase would barely do anything to it. It would face the same issues no matter what.
Until further BRs drop.
15.0 is still needed, staying at 14.3 (if it stays) will give it enough breathing room.
Giving it 120Ds is not the smart approach if you’re looking for this change to make the GE more enjoyable, on the contrary.

Hopefully we get the AIM-120D-3. Seeing the way they implemented the R-77-1, it is safe to assume we should be getting the D-3 (in a correct state), but knowing gaijin, it is inconsistent to look on their past choices.

I believe it should only have it if there’s proof that the GE actually uses it. I’ve read a lot about the BR increase and I’ll never understand that logic; before BR, a vehicle in War Thunder must be historically accurate, not the other way around.
However things can change, and new additions can be added to make things more accurate, which requires a BR change.
It’s simple, a buff should equal a change in BR.
Of course, that’s very true, but I don’t agree that adding armaments or capabilities to a vehicle should be omitted just because it slightly increases its BR. I think vehicles should be realistic first, and then they should consider how to adjust all the BR values.
