Why do we need anti radiation missiles when 90% of CAS players are using AGM-65/KH-38 as their stand off missile to destroy SAMS.
Adding longer range SAMS do not work on aircraft manoeuvring low to the ground.
We have SHORAD and SHORAD as in Pantsir/ITO-90 are the best platforms for this task.
Patriot, IRIS-T SLM, ASRAAM launcher and S-300 are all weak in this capacity.
Pantsir makes me fly at 9000 meters to avoid its missiles.
YO! Love seeing these posts.
We need at least 20km effective range for everyone, not 16km of Pantsir, 20km of SPYDER’s Python 5s for example.
I find the Challenger 2s easy to play myself. No need to insult others just cause they have a different perspective than you.
@T4T
Best CAS in War Thunder: F-15E, F-16C, Su-30SM, Mirage 2000DRMV, Rafale, and Su-34.
Pantsir isn’t on the side of all of those, so… your post is just wrong.
You’re right, the Rafale Mirage combo is superior as they have superior flight performance to the Sukhois while having slightly superior air to ground weapons.
The Rafale can also bring 6x MICA EMs with that loadout.
And the F-15E F-16C combo is as good cause it’s also a fighter striker combo, both having superior flight performance than the Sukhois, and F-15E having a larger kit that can take out up to 6 MBTs and an unknown amount of SPAA with the 20 glide bombs.
He’s not troll it the fact and he’s right about it
Pantsir covering those KH-38 slinger mean CAP can’t have altitude advantage over them and it’s a big advantage and RU alone can have altitude advantage over the other without worry about other SPAA since it can’t even reach combine with KH 38 range the only effective way to stop KH-38 slinger scum is to air spawn camping them
sound f up? yeah because it is.
1: this does not work against long range SAMs. An aircraft using those to fight state of the art SAMs would get eaten alive, i don’t really know how else to put it
2 : in order to fire a kh38 or agm65 you have to see the SAM site. In order to fire an anti rad missile, you also have to let your RWR get a signal. In any case, you have to get pinged by the SAMs radar at least once. The thing is, these long range SAMs don’t work the regular “missile goes upward” like we are used to in game. You better see it as a mix between the fox 3 we currently have and a ballistic missile, it lofts, but much higher. Those missiles also have a longer range on their own seeker, since they usually have more powerful seekers (they are bigger than a usual air to air missile). Finally they are fired vertically : that and the lofting mentionned earlier means that they arrive from the top when targetting an aircraft maneuvering near the ground. Your only hope as an aircraft to defend those is to brutally change trajectory so the missile does not look in the right place after being on IOG for a while, and that only works from afar mind you. The efficiency of ground hugging will also depend on Gaijin’s ability to model Earth’s curvature, so that remains to be seen
Range scales with efficacy, a Patriot PAC 3 effectiveness drops off the lower and faster the aircraft flies.
This is why Patriot has only been really effective at sniping high flying aircraft and slow moving missiles/drones
Yes missiles go up and come down but they are easier to defeat than a system like a Pantsir designed for that exact role. NATO doctrinally expects to control the air so SHORAD isn’t critical to how NATO operates.
HARMS can be programmed in a multitude of ways, GPS for fixed emplacements or AR mode.
of course, but not to the same extent as a Shorad.
At very long ranges, A SAM will usually drop down from high altitude, converting it’s gravitational potential energy into kinetic energy. The speed of the missile would be limited and it would be possible to defeat, but you can’t just forget about it and fly in a straight line. By “long range” i mean anywhere in between 50 and 200 km depending on the system. That’s already well outside of the best AGMs we currently have in game.
Even a SU30 with KH38 would stand 0 chance against those.
i don’t know where you get that from really
i would expect the opposite. Longer range missiles have a similar or better agility than 95Ya6, are not saclos, have bigger warheads and a bigger trigger radius. They also keep their agility for far longer. Pantsir missile burns for 2-3s, long range SAMs burn for far longer than that.
As for HARMs, it’s also necessary to remember that they can be shot down. As for aiming them with GPS, it could work but would lower your chances of it, since the precise coordinates of the radar aren’t known before launching (in game in mean)
Alvis I love you man but you found them easy to play doesn’t mean they are good. If you ask any Brit main or Brit player out there Challies are far from good, even the Merks are better than them and that a low bar to begin with.
Vehicles don’t have to be meta, in-fact no top MBT is really meta.
If you run the most meta playstyle at top BR, armor stops mattering and it’s all about having M829A2 or DM53 on a fast chassis.
I’d rather be consistent than play the game as the game it is.
Pantsir may not need a nerf, but russia certaintly does. Compared to absolutly all other MBTs, the T90M and T80BVM have very small weakspots and an autoloader that simply does not produce spalling, matched with that, russia has the absolut best CAS in game with KH38 MT, which travel at supersonic speeds and cannot be intercepted by ANY other nation´s spaa… To add even more, countries like USA, Germany and mainly Italy and Israel (which currently have completly useless SPAA´s against Su 34s and 30s) lack reliable anti air vehicles to counter the absolutly biased russian CAS. They could benefit if there were a limit to how many KH´s a plane can carry or spawning russian planes without flares to balance it out, because right now, russian air makes ground RB unplayable and Italy and Israel suffer the most. Italy currently lacks a SPAA platform that can counter this issue, but the adition of the SPYDER system to the israeli tech tree which has DERBY and Python 5 missiles, may improve the situation.
