Im researching the last 2 phantoms now and ive been debating in my head which line I should go down in rank 8. I like the F18 a lot (im using the premium version to grind) but i dont really know how to feel about the F14s. And I know the F15s are just kinda better. Especially with the new F15 Golden Eagle coming out. Im not super into BVR so thats not really a huge factor in it although I want to learn how to do it better. So whats your opinions on it? If you could go into a little detail as to why that would help.

F-14s aren’t really that great if you are trying to be competitive, but they are fun imo. F-15 is the best choice from that perspective, F-16s being a really close second imho and F-18 is the last. But they all offer a different experience.
Avionics are similar for all, although radars are different they all do the job just fine. F-16 carries the least armament but offers arguably best performance and F-18 carries a lot of armament but trade is flight performance. F-15 is in the middle of the pack so I’d say it’s a more balanced and does little bit of everything when you ask.

F-14 radar is awful. I think even Russian radars, like seen on the Mig-21 bison are better.
If the target goes slight notch, other radars will lose track and may regain track. The F-14 will “helpfully” switch to non PD mode, leaving you vulnerable to ground clutter and chaff.
And we know pulse radars in the game have a hobby of losing track against a target with even no ground clutter or chaffing.

I meant F-15/16/18 radars in my second paragraph actually. F-14 only has HPRF which is easy to notch. As I said earlier, it is not super competitive but a fun aircraft to play.

Some of the things he says are true, but only because it goes along with everything else everyone is saying, so in truth the F-15s are always the better option for so many reasons.
It’s not THAT bad. it’s the worst of the 4 but it’s certainly better than what you’re rating it for.
And it’s the only one here that can pick up fighters at 100 miles and launch missiles with 116 miles of range at them. That’s gotta count for something. Should the AWG-9 be better? Absolutely. But you can make it work.
Comparing to the awg 9 radar of the f14a/b to the kopyo of the 21 bisom is a strange choice, you’re comparing a 1960s radar to a 1990s one.
Mig 21 93, the program where the bisom originated from was first shown off in 1993
