Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

All the official data currently available mostly consist of direct copy‑pastes from the Su‑30MKK weight figures; only a small portion can actually be used for calculations, and those yield a very wide range. Moreover, we simply don’t know the exact internal fuel capacity of the J‑16, which is a prerequisite for the calculations. Finally, when using design takeoff weight and design landing weight as references, and comparing with the MKK and Su‑35S, we can conclude simultaneously that the J‑16’s operational empty weight is consistent with the MKK’s and 400 kg lighter than the Su‑35S. Taking the Su‑35S’s operational empty weight as 19 tons, the J‑16’s dry weight would be 19,000 – 400 – 180 – 30 – 96 – 60 = 18,234 kg; using the MKK as a reference gives 17,500 kg. If we calculate based on the design landing weight of 21,840 kg, with internal fuel assumed at 10 tons, then the dry weight is 21,840 – 4,000 (or 3,000, because the standard is 30‑40% of total fuel capacity) – 180 – 30 – 96 – 60 = 17,470 (or 18,470) kg; with internal fuel at 9,640 kg, it gives 17,614 (or 18,578) kg; and with internal fuel at 9,400 kg, it gives 17,710 (or 18,650) kg. Ultimately, we are left with a huge interval ranging from 17,470 to 18,650 kg.

I can’t tell if this guy is stupid or if this is an expertly crafted shitpost.

I greatly hope for the latter.

Just do it 33/33/33 between this two and a disgruntled Chinese main, who’s less than pleased their new jet is not unique enough

Yeah garbage like this isn’t helping lmao

It is pointless 😭 it also gives Chinese players a bad rep.

Would J-11BG be a better flanker than the J-16? Theoretically it is single-seater compared to the J-16 and thus should be lighter and have better flight performance?

Yeah but it would be limited to 6x radar homing missiles unless Gaijin gives it the 2x racks.
Irl though the J-16 is way more capable than the J-11BG, but in Gaijin’s world it would be the opposite apparently.

The J-11D would get the extra hardpoint compared to the BG tho wouldnt it?

it would have worse engines (WS-10A vs 10B) so it go more in the direction of being a 11B with more missile , the B"G" would have WS-10B instead

@ILuvAna_De_Armas looks like my flanker got a new damage model I ate 2 9ms like they were nothing.

It would
But I highly doubt J-11D will ever be in consideration to be added.
Information is extremely scarce. We know more about the J-20 than we know about the J-11D. All we know is that it’s using WS-10B, has extra wing hardpoints, has an canted AESA radar, and an new airframe with high percentage of composite usage. If it comes to the game Gaijin will be forced to make things up about its performance.

The only consensus reached amongst PLA watchers is that the J-15T later utilized avionics systems that could’ve been based on that of the J-11D program after it got canceled. This is because the nose of the J-15T is very similar, if not the same, as the J-11D. So they could be using the same radar.

In War Thunder it’ll mean if the J-11D ever gets added it’ll just get the J-15T’s current radar, which is a copy-paste of the KLJ-10A from the J-10C.

If added, then J-11D would actually be good, even if Gaijin doesn’t model it 1:1.
At least it will have:

  • 12x radar missiles
  • It’ll be lighter than the J-15T and J-16, and have WS-10B
  • 96x countermeasures unlike the J-15T

i am 90% sure the J-11D uses WS-10A still

Found only one Book source for WS-10B Series 3 so far; Client Challenge

this sadly only counts as a secondary source doesnt it?

kinda annoying that we can only really tell apart the engines via their nozzle designs since china releases so little

Yes, but we only need two secondary, sadly I couldn’t find any additional yet. Pictures from an Expo would also be sufficient additionally.

ill ask around but itll be hard since the B3 name is a viewer name…

Actually found another, but I’ve nothing to prove thrust increase so far.

yeah that is gonna be the next obstacle, tbf idk if there was a thrust increase at all

I doubt these will go anywhere but still worth a try;

[DEV] J-16 should have WS-10B Series 3 engines

better try then not to
