Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

Fair, I don’t know too much about the J-16, other than it being really cool, and the PLAAF considering it to be better than the Su-35.

In War Thunder, the J-16 feels to me like it’s just a buffed J-15T—carries a few more countermeasures but with slightly worse maneuverability… I just hope Gaijin doesn’t make the PL-15 too underwhelming… since the PL-12’s maneuverability has already been significantly nerfed.

The maneuverability would be considerably better on the J-16

I haven’t played the Su-30MKK/2 series in the game—they are premium vehicles. Are they more maneuverable than the SM/2 or the J-15T? Gaijin will likely just copy the flight model data from the Su-30MKK onto the J-16. Everything else—the radar, engines, or onboard avionics—can probably be copied from the J-15T.

The J-16 will be lighter and have more powerful engines

MKK is better than SM/SM2, slightly worst than J-15T, aside from about 800kph.

Iirc the J-16 should be lighter than the MKK due to composites, with better engines. So it’ll probably outperform the J-15.

I hope Gaijin will differentiate between the WS-10B on the J-16 and the WS-10B(h) on the J-15T… Though I have a feeling that once the J-16 is added to the game, their engines will end up being exactly the same. I’m also worried they might actually try to create a distinction not by buffing the WS-10B on the J-16, but by nerfing the WS-10B(h) on the J-15T instead.

I think they will just copy paste a Su35 for China and call it a day…feels like gaijin is not too inclined in adding indigenous tech for China…is like a couple of copypastes and then 1 Chinese vehicle…

No. The empty weight of the J-16 falls somewhere between 17.7 and 18 tons.

You’re correct, I was mistaking the weight of the MKM and the MKK.

They might just add the Chinese Su-35 at a lower BR. Afaik the Chinese don’t use R-77M.

I figure the F-15EX, Su-35S, and J-16 will probably come at the same time, with new missiles. So if Gaijin added the Chinese Su-35 at a lower br with RVV-SD (R-77-1) it would kind of make sense.

or they’ll just Gaijin it up and make it copy paste slop.

they’ll most likely do the same things as they did the mkm to give it kh-38, russian su-35 can carry 77m which means chinese also will

Watch the ecm update come along with them and become completely countered by the humble and elusive jam on home code they came up for the next gen arh missiles.

tbh there is not much hope left in me for the chn TT, they still havent fixed the CATOBAR of the J-15T. (and have also denied a bugreport for it missing grab handles in its cockpit like lmao)

Yup…i gave up on it too…i was kind having hopes for gaijin do bring to China top tier more indigenous A-G ordnance too, like the LY V501 on the J10C now that the JSOW was added…

You mean like they never added a pantsir equivalent despite china having them and made sure to always add a worse spaa than what Russia had?

So it is likely still 8+4, or 10+2 if Gaijin is kind enough.

Can add the technically compatible dual racks found on j15t to give 12+2 if they kinda enough.

The j-15t shouldnt even have them btw

Ngl,i kind have to agree with it…also hate they added the 30mm Type 625 which is only export and not added in service the 25mm gatling one with APFSDS…also
