Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

Yeah i had a look at it and last message was from 2024 so I decided to post it here

so without using double pylons the j-16 and j-15t can carry 8? pl-15, 2 belly, 2 under engine ducts and 3 on each wing? plus 4 pl-10?

Going by confirmed information from pictures, for ARH its 2 under intakes 2 between the intakes and 2 per wing and the two outermost wing pylons is only for IR so 8+4

and for gaijing to implement the double rack pylons on the belly like the j-10c we would need pictures right? we are not going to get as lucky as the su-30sm and sm2 which magically have double racks for the r-77-1 lol

Well, we’d need some way to prove they’re “technically compatible” which isnt possible since there’s no information or pictures. So its up to gaijin

yeah thats a likely no, what about the kd-88 do we know if they can carry double pylons or is it like the kh-38? we might be able to do a 6kd-88, 2 pl-15 and 4 pl-10?

Its capable of carrying 4 YJ-83’s on the wings so presumably KD-88’s aswell. I dont ever recall seing it mount any KD-88/YJ-83/YJ91 on the intakes or between them so im not sure if its possible

maaaaan, i usually love chinese aircraft but the j-35 just doesnt hit for me, looks a bit scuffed, j-20 for life

Based on my previous discussion with the moderator Gunjob, I believe that the J-16 is capable of carrying ARH missiles on all underwing hardpoints, for a total of 10. The wingtip hardpoints are limited to IR missiles and electronic warfare pods only. Therefore, this would allow the J-16 to carry a 10+2 missile loadout. The specific arguments and supporting evidence can be found in our discussion thread at that time.
But unfortunately, I have not been able to find direct photographic evidence showing those hardpoints fully loaded with air-to-air missiles. Therefore, the exact loadout ultimately depends on Gaijin’s decision.

Yeah ive seen and read this, but as I said I was going purely of hard confirmed information

Jsut cause a plane can carry a pylon doesn’t mean weapon can be suspended/put onto it and have it work

Hence why I went with only visually confirmed options

would be great if chinese guys could find the source and tell us how legit this source is

6+4.
edit: nvm ignored the inner pylon. 8+4

They are 100% compatible, and there are ways around it, like the pylon type and the physical space, but that’s up to Gaijin.

So I saw that China was a user of the KH-31, this anti-radar missile weighs about 600 kg. There are photos showing Russian Su-30s carrying them under their air intakes. I don’t know if the Su-30s have reinforced air intakes, but China bought Su-30 MKKs. The engineers could have kept this additional payload for the J-16, but we just don’t have any photos of J-16s with KD-88s under their air intakes.
knowing that the KD-88 also weighs approximately 600 kg

I also checked the dimensions; the KH-31 mod 1 and the KD-88 have practically the same dimensions, differing by only a few centimeters, nothing that could interfere with the landing gear or cause the missile to be positioned too close to the ground during takeoff.

Whether we believe they are or aren’t really doesn’t matter. Whatever gaijin decides, Good luck convincing them otherwise without actual evidence.

We’ll just be met with this

yeah, we literally need pics because there are almost no sources

I think as far as 5th gen’s go, the J-35 is second in looks only to the F-22.

I also just like the approach china has taken with the aircraft.

J-16D(?) the EW one is probably my favourite of all China’s current aircraft designs

J35 looks to american’ish for my liking. I prefer the j20 extremely unique airframe. Dame reason im not a big fan of the boramae

I do think it looks very American as they’ve been the premier force for research into VLO airframe development.

But I’d say that it looks a lot damn better than the F-35.
