Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

They changed the wording for it, now it is “relatively low BR aircraft”

Good catch, I mixed up the aircraft. Here is a link to the bug report: Community Bug Reporting System

Empty mass should be 16170kg

Edit: didn’t take long to reject it, unsurprisingly. Really going to make me waste time and mathematically calculate the mass of the airfoil to typical aluminum airfoil alloy and thickness and then change the density to typical aerospace composite airfoil density… Such a waste of time, if they think the sources are incorrect, then why don’t they drop their ‘reliable’ sources? @Smin1080p_WT Seriously, why is Gaijin so resistant on sources on contested issues? It would certainly help generate community goodwill by being open about it??? Additionally, the Mod Manager rejected the sources for being an 'encyclopedia, when the devs are known to use 中国飞机全书第三卷(全)as a source, which IS an encyclopedia.

Also the report regarding 1493 was rejected… Why does Gaijin bother with adding J-11B when they know that sources will be scarce… No wonder why people leak classified documents, Gaijin’s report moderators are some of the most stubborn people I’ve ever interacted with.

@pegabug

Do you know where this source comes from (regarding the J-11B)?
We might have a chance for the empty weight report if we find out the original document/publication.

Also, need SOURCES for a visual modeling error… What are they doing?

No, this is truly ridiculous, it is a VISUAL MODEL, not even something regarding performance…
What the heck?

Yeah no I already gave up on the J-11B lmao, the VT5 might be less awful than the J-11B but it could always be gimped into the ground since it isn’t Russian. Funny how Gaijin keeps doing sort of bullshit such as giving the Su-30SM a 2020s fantasy loadout, but no no it would be too fucking OP for the PL8B to get a better booster or the J-11B having an actually good radar or weighing less than it does right now. I fucking bet you if it’s Russian or would get all the “but it might actually have it” benefit of the doubt

This is just the way it is forward unfortunately, we have even less concrete sources regarding newer Chinese vehicles and Gaijin can fudge the stats and “not a bug” or “not enough info” when we challenge them.

J11B finally got some MFD pages tho loadout uses the russian one

Radar, weight, and loadout still hasn’t changed though.
Also there is still Russian in the cockpit.

This is going to be like the J-11a again.

The devs accpeted this, so J-10A will have pl-8b?

We also need to give PL-8B J-8F. It’s hard for him without IRCCM missiles. Im ready for 13.3 BR

Yeah, would be nice for aircraft which actually used PL-8B to actually have them. Maybe after release and live data it can be raised for “Up to debate”. (except maybe for JH-7 for it might catapult it higher and it AirRB 12.7 ia already unpleasant. 11.7 GRB is pretty much nothingburger, there’s no 11.7 line up anyway)

I just care about the 1493 radar, Gaijin is extremely hesitant in accepting any reports regarding it.
Gaijin should just accept that if they want to develop the CN tech tree any further, we literally don’t have many sources to rely on other than what PLA watchers have figured out for any vehicle past like the 2000s, other than maybe some export product, and they should be more lenient in accepting these reports not only for China, but for all nations.

I think they’ll just take the j-8f radar, add a little more range to it, and that’s it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is copy and paste J-8F radar with advertised 150km range.

-🙁-

I mean, they copy and pasted the Blue Vixen radar stats onto the CAPTOR-M used by the Eurofighters, even though CAPTOR-M is supposed to be notably more advanced.

Probably same spot you found it. It looks like it is from a blog. Supposedly there is a CCTV video where they say it is 700kg lighter.

Outside of that, if I can snatch the in game model of the J-11B, I can import it into CAD, get a surface area reading of it, remove the areas with composites and re-calculate surface area. Then I can compute the mass of the airfoil based off that, thus getting a good estimate of the mass reduction from the airfoil. Structural mass changes I cannot compute without a lot more information, but at least airfoil reduction should be pretty sizable.
