Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

It’s a fan/unofficial designation for the engine that was fitted to later batch of J-16.
It was known that early J-16 used WS-10A, but later batch had notably different engine nozzle and was more similar to what we know is on WS-10B, but since WS-10B’s oil cooler position is off to the side, like AL-31FN, WS-10D was given to what we think is WS-10B but for the Flanker platform, aka different oil cooler.

It should perform the same as WS-10B otherwise.

J-16 never used WS-10A but WS-10B with 2 different nozzles.

Was WS-10B ready in 2015-2016? That was when J-16 reached IOC.

Yeah. A paper from SAC in 2013 specifically mentioned a 12% thrust increase for the WS-10B.

I remember WS-10D is the ultimate WS-10 for J-20, which has even more thrust, used as WS-15’s substitute before it’s ready

That’s WS-10C, which military thrust sees a notable bump over the B and likely tailored for the J-20’s supercruise demands.

Now thats interesting… that A2G guided munitions J-11B can use which would require the targeting pod?

there will be Ls-6 and BG bombs for sure, but will gaijin dare to use Chinese AG missiles like the C-704 and KD88??

im doubtfull they will give any chinese planes standoff air to ground missiles before j-16.expect Ls-6 bombs for j11B

matter of fact, how long do you think it will be until we see j16 ingame ?

hard to say, we’ll see with gaijin’s mood

is the radar has been fixed?

No

Probably have to wait until tomorrow to see

Does anyone have the in-game weight of the J-11B and the Su-27 or J-11? Saw a report saying the plane is too heavy, I’ve got the sources to report this if somebody has the in-game data on the weight.

Even if no new missiles are added, a TGP would enhance the usage of Kh-29Ts, which I believe have been seen in the files for it.

Excellent, exactly what I needed. I should be getting the report out tomorrow for it.

What should the mass of the J-11B be?
