Dont forget that armament is a balancing feature. Snail can take or give however it see fit (case and point: MiG-29 (9-13) still doent have R-73, but have R-27ER. Also there’s 29SMT which is a whole circus)
All of these were once the balance compromises they made for “more advanced vehicles to join the game”, but later they forgot to restore them to the historically correct level.

Not only forgot, but actively avoid fixing and discussing said changes, people have wanted the ER traded for more R-73s for example since the mig-29 came out, and even more so now that R-73s are present on aircraft a whole br bracket below.
Gaijin doesn’t seem interested in listening to the ‘historical’ community when it comes to providing buffs, only nerfs like with the leopard gun traverse etc

Also can someone find anything regarding whether the J-11B can carry more than 6x PL-12?

This is in the files, though I’m unsure how many pl12’s and pl8’s it can carry at max irl, or how many double sided pylons it can have

I really hope they clean up the PL-8 visual model before adding the PL-8B. The current PL-8 model is that of a PL-8B.

J-11s are limited to 6x ARH and 4x IR, J-15 and 16 can carry 8
Yeah but J15s have 48 CMs which sucks, without ECM RN. Also 6+4 vs 10+2 is a massive let down. Also still nothing on what is the specification of this J11B.
I’d imagine it would be J-11B with WS-10A, or else it would be quite ridiculous for it to be 14.0 like in the leak.
Even if they initially don’t give it we have the option to request WS-10A like what happened with the F-15E.

for the Chinese, it is the designation “S” which will designate a two-seater variant for a single-seater aircraft model.

Quick question, the Type 1493 radar on the J-11B is just a mechanical radar correct? Not an ESA?
No not ESA, should be similar to F15C radar, although IDK whether it will be 1474 or 1493, cause in theory if it is of similar size to Mech than it is more likely to be 900mm radar, however the fact that it is so much lighter as to needing re balance of the aircraft might suggest it is 700mm radar.
Thats pretty unfortunate to hear. It’ll be a nice radar, but at the same time with the Rafale and the Su-30SM now allegedly coming mech scan radars are starting to be on the backfoot, particularly when gaijin refuses to model even very advanced ones anywhere near correctly. That being said, it’ll still be strong, just unlikely to be the best flanker radar of the update like I originally thought itd be.
Yeah, sounds like next update is really nothing at all for China (if leaks to believe). The, long overdue imo (seriously, why they bothered with J-11A to begin with?..) addition of J-11B is nice as well as PL-8B, but wouldn’t change much
