Did the J-16’s two-seat capacity have any effect on its flight performance? How much heavier is it than the J-11bg? And as far as I know, China has completely abandoned the production of single-seat flankers, the j-16 has completely replaced the j-11b in prodactions. Why?
I mean the point is to be able to supress enemy, getting them to notch is the objective in the first place in theory so that they can’t fire back. J11B lacks R-73 so will likely be worse than J11A in terms of closer range cause R73 is just a life saver at this point for me. J11B whilst turns well, can’t compete with TVC missiles simply because there won’t be a chance for the missiles to turn.

We don’t know what the exact empty weight of the J-16 is, other than the fact that it is definitely lighter than the Su-30MKK, maybe by a decent amount since J-16 is using much newer materials and components than the J-11B, and more composites.
PLAAF wants more multi-role capability, it deemed the canceled J-11D to not be worth it since J-16 was already good enough in air-to-air and also because J-11D single unit cost was approaching the J-20, a 5th generation fighter.
J-16 should be no slouch, while the early batch used WS-10A, the current batch of J-16 is using WS-10D, which should be WS-10B with the oil cooler in a different arrangement to fit the Flanker. WS-10D is rated for around 140 KN of thrust compared to WS-10A’s 132 KN.
J-16 can also carry more missiles than J-11B, and also targeting pod and guided bombs, air-to-ground missiles.
Then of course you have the AESA radar on the J-16.

Well, it probably makes perfect sense. China has a lot of single-seat j-10C and j-20 for air superiority, and they will soon start making j-35s. Therefore, they do not need another single-seat fighter. I basically understood. But I didn’t understand why you said it was lighter than the su30mkk)). It’s ridiculous, the su30 is even heavier in principle than the su27, to be proud that the j-16 is lighter with composites, that’s the thing. I’m wondering how much the weight differs from the j-11b and BG. By the way, does the j-11bg have an aesa or is it a mechanical radar?
J-16 is 17.7t, while j11b is 16.5t in dev.

Okay, I just hope that the j-11b will bring me pleasure and beautiful frags, even if its radar or the number of weapons will be worse than the su-30sm. And as far as I know, few people like the Eurofighter’s mechanical radar either.

The thing is, the radar shouldn’t be bad if Gaijin models it correctly.
The only downside would be only having 6x PL-12s.
