Shenyang J-11, J-16, J-15, History, Performance & Discussion

we should have gotten j11a instead of j11 in the first place, now we essentially have 2 identical flankers to grind

I think PLA officially refers to all Su-27/J-11/J-11A as just 歼-11 or J-11. All those designations and their definitions are just invented by netizens but are just widely accepted.

Obviously the China tech tree is just getting minor nation treatment which means they usually get C&P from the major nations instead of domestic unique stuff.

Well J11A MLU is quite hard to define, as the level of upgrade range from simply adding MAWS to even full J11B avionics.

I had a look today and found a weird thing. The J11 has got the Chinese self produced transparent glass, whilst J11A seem to be still using the Russian glassware which have the yellow layer.
So Gaijing totally copy and pasted Su27, rather than J11.

Officially, China only adopts aircraft manufactured in China and assigns them a military code…

where some airframes received various levels of upgrades ranging from additional MFD’s, MAWS, RWR, radar upgrades, etc → J-11B Chinese overhaul

My main issue is the fact that the J-11A is a straight up C&P of the J-11, with the installation of the MAWS on the aircraft there should be a display for it. This usually comes as a function on a MFD or on the HUD but both aren’t present in-game.

This picture shows a J-11 of a unknown variant with a MFD in the position were the HDD usually would be on the SU-27SK. It also appears to have the presence of the SPO-15 at the bottom right as well.

J-11B radar is PD but is said to be a very good one.
Only PLA aircraft that uses PESA radars are J-10B and JL-10.

IDK, there are so many radars. The original J11B from 2007 and batches as late as 2012 have been confirmed of using PD 1493 radar, variants post 2019 are confirmed of using AESA radar. The rest are unsure.

Usually the J-11B MLU with AESA radars are called J-11BG by netizens.

J11BSH does have PESA I think, it’s the navy version though. J11BG has AESA.

The J-11A in its current state at 13.0 is a genuine sick joke, something needs to be done to improve its competitiveness.

I’ll be honest, there isn’t much to do since most if not all of the bug reports have been denied with the info Gaijin has. It is the same situation as Germany, China could only have the J-10A to cope with the fact that the J11B is too powerful to be added right now, the problem is that they probably couldn’t add a new airframe in such a massive update such as this one. It makes sense and we should wait for the next update and see.

I have to disagree, the J-11B in-game would be equipped with PL-12s and PL-8s so nothing special, the avionics besides radar will be on par with the SU-27SM and it would gain the ability to destroy ground units with precision (thanks to air to ground ordinances).

It would have a PD radar instead of a AESA or PESA radar as most people believe and the PL-12s aren’t that competitive so I doubt it would be game breaking.

Something comparable to the Eurofighter would be a later variant of the J-11B like the J-11BGH.

The PL-12’s are underperforming so we must consider this in any evaluations of future additions. The PL-12 should be superior to the AIM-120A/B in performance.

You have made a rookie mistake, anything Chinese will most likely not be fixed. The ZTZ99A is a great example, the entire tank is mismodelled and currently lacks spall liners and this issue has been acknowledged for a while but we are yet to get a fix (and don’t get me started with its non-functional APS).

We can also talk about the ZTZ99-III and how it had a gap between its upper and lower plate and by the looks of it this is also yet to be fixed.

There is a funny trend between Chinese vehicles not getting fixed whilst the issue is acknowledged, them outright denying a report due to the link being “dubious” because it’s obviously Chinese and them giving us mediocre vehicles for a major patch.
