I don’t know J-11B located before or after J-11A but 4th gen WVRAAM (PL-8A & PL-8B) and BVR combat (PL-12 & PL-12A) better J-11A 8%
The J-11B is much better than the J-11A, the J-11B has a new RWR (most likely the KJ8602A) which can detect a large scope of threats, it has multicolour MFDs which should be good for simulator and it has the ability to carry air to ground weapons like the Kh-29T.
The PL-8Bs should also be significantly better than the R-73E and the PL-12A should be harder to decoy than the PL-12, so overall it shouldn’t be just “8%” better than the currently J-11A we have in-game.
I also do believe the J-11A should have a different RWR but Gaijin is hard locked on it having the SPO-15, it doesn’t make sense whatsoever and especially when it has MAWS but not new RWR but that’s Gaijin for you.
Well it is what it is at the start at least, then the versions of J11A got better and could be compared to Su35 in terms of avionics. J11A has undergone a lot of modernisation but it really is a line whether J11A is just a domestic produced Su27SK or it has to be the improved version. The MLU for sure is very capable both in terms of CAS and some had a newly fitted radar (unsure of specifics)
It should be much better since it has a new radar new avionics and new hardpoints. It should be much more capable if you have seen the cockpit, it has 3 MPDs.
The devs and tech mods are having issues understanding the West and East have different names for the planes.
Chinese seem to refer to J-11 as initial parts kit bought from Russia → J-11A is the Chinese production of the plane → J-11A MLU (no official designation) where some airframes received various levels of upgrades ranging from additional MFD’s, MAWS, RWR, radar upgrades, etc → J-11B Chinese overhaul.
West refer to Su-27SK as the initial parts kit → J-11 as Chinese production (some also include initial parts kit as well in this designation) → J-11A where some airframes received various levels of upgrades → J-11B Chinese overhaul.
This creates confusion especially since the J-11A MLU (J-11A) is not a standardized upgrade, it was the PLAAF trying to get utility out of existing aircraft and get them closer to being at J-11B performance and not as useless as they were found to be.
In all honesty, the J-11A MLU (J-11A) was a poor choice of an addition. J-10A would’ve been far better given the updates contents and if they think the J-11B is ‘too advanced’. Failure from the ground up with no intervention despite major red flags where we aren’t even speaking about the same planes because the designations are mixed up.
I think PLA officially refers to all Su-27/J-11/J-11A as just 歼-11 or J-11. All those designations and their definitions are just invented by netizens but are just widely accepted.
Obviously the China tech tree is just getting minor nation treatment which means they usually get C&P from the major nations instead of domestic unique stuff.
I had a look today and found a weird thing. The J11 has got the Chinese self produced transparent glass, whilst J11A seem to be still using the Russian glassware which have the yellow layer.
So Gaijing totally copy and pasted Su27, rather than J11.
where some airframes received various levels of upgrades ranging from additional MFD’s, MAWS, RWR, radar upgrades, etc → J-11B Chinese overhaul
My main issue is the fact that the J-11A is a straight up C&P of the J-11, with the installation of the MAWS on the aircraft there should be a display for it. This usually comes as a function on a MFD or on the HUD but both aren’t present in-game.
This picture shows a J-11 of a unknown variant with a MFD in the position were the HDD usually would be on the SU-27SK. It also appears to have the presence of the SPO-15 at the bottom right as well.
