Search for more info on the 140mm Merkava cannon and APFSDS round

Heya lads. Not long ago I’ve stumbled upon info of the 140mm Israeli Merkava cannon, aswell as 140mm APFSDS shell, which in some forums was thought to just be a myth, weird to believe I just found it randomly. Anyway, this thread is just a place to post as much info about it, in hopes of gathering more attention and therefore possibly more info from other people :)

Due to the South African plans of potentially using a 140mm cannon for the Loggim mbt I suspect that this was influenced by Israeli research in the area. And like the 105mm dm63 would have used some licensed Israeli ammunition if it came to fruition.

Could be that IMI was contracted by South Africa to make a 140mm cannon and it was mounted on a Merkava as a testing vehicle

Actually I wonder if it could be related in any way to the IMI 120mm merkava testbed

Seeing the Mk.5 Barak come to game would be cool. Not much different in game wise as most of the upgrade and changes are internal, but it would be basically nice to have another Mk.4 copy.

there is no such thing as a merkava 5 bruh
the merkava mk 4 barak is an improved merkava 4m that runs on AI, with new FCS and a new advanced vision system
there would probably never be a merkava 5

No, It’s literally called Mk.5 Barak, designated as 5 for being the 5th generation Merkava tank

And yes, I am aware of the improvements, it’s diabolical I can’t lie 😭

Different sources frustratingly use different designations, but it seems the IDF calls it the Merkava Mk.4 Barak.

Sources using Mk.4 (including IDF):

Sources using Mk.5:

Sources using both Mk.4 and Mk.5:

Sources just using Barak:

Oh alright, thank you for the correction!

what source could even try to use mk 5?
that fact that this is a generation 5 tank doesn’t make it a merkava 5. plz fact check before you write
