Seafire FR 47 and Griffon engine Incorrect Performance Discussion

My apologies for not replying sooner, if im being honest I bookmarked this and then forgot to check my bookmarks.

Sources were this one about the specific engine marks

http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/Aircraft_Engines_of_the_World_Rolls-Royce_Griffon.pdf

This one about the engine in general

http://www.spitfireperformance.com/RR-Griffon.pdf

And then another about the MK.xiv specifically

Ok thanks. I was looking for a source on the spitfire mk 24 getting hispano mk v’s. Thank you for the sources.

Spitfire MK.24’s did use Hispano V’s which it has in-game. IIRC they started with the short barrelled ones and then got long-barrels later on.

On the Griffon topic (I’m assuming you mean Griffon 61 as the MK.24 uses the 61 and not the 66), virtually every Griffon engine can do 18, 21 or 25 PSI boost. You shouldn’t need too much to get that report acknowledged as that’s just commonly accepted as a fact.

it has mk 2 in game, which often leads to targets passing through your shots.

Your report covers the engine. I was looking mainly for information to get the guns changes to Hispano mk v’s

So basically Gaijin modelled it after Spitfire F.24 VN318. Spitfire mk.24’s were originally fitted with MK.II’s so as not to deviate resources from the production line for Meteors which were deemed to be the more important aircraft.

VN318 was held in RAF reserve so never was upgraded with MK.V’s. Now i know what you’re after ill keep an eye out but I can see them just rejecting it as not a bug because its technically right that the MK.24 could have either MK.II’s or MK.V’s.

Arguably and in my opinion you should be allowed to choose like how germans can choose between 30mm or 20mm on the BF109.

But as I said i’ll keep an eye out because I too would like the MK.V’s.

From what i understand aircraft converted from mk 22 spitfires had hispano mk ii’s and aircraft fresh off the line had hispano mk v’s. Which makes sense because it would be far easier to maintain logistics. Convered aircraft had a PQ serial, while production aircraft have a VN serial. I just need to find a primary source that states that

I’m just going to assume that in the one document “military power” means it’s maximum power and not what “military power” generally means for things like jets, 100% without afterburner or wep

Because 2400HP at just 100% would be comical

Originally Mk 22 and 24 used MK V Hispano’s in game. Until someone made a bug report pointing out the model’s in game were using the MK II. Which is easy to tell by the length of the barrel. If you want Mk V ‘s it would require the wing guns be remodeled to short barrel’s.

can you re-issue this bug report please?

Year later, I wish to ask as well if someone would be so kind and re-issue the bug report?

It is so odd that MB.5 using the same engine has the correct engine power. Consideting how unpopular Seafire FR 47 is, it would be easiest balancing act ever to implement the correct power output to the Seafire it as well.

Would be nice to have a 2350 hp FR 47 in the prominent gap between 5.7 and 7.0 in the UK TT.

As the FR 47 is currently a foldered aircraft, surely it’s a good candidate for a move?

I’m gonna go with… both.

Does the Seafire FR 47 actually only produce 1900hp or is that just the stat card lying about takeoff power vs WEP?

Because 1900hp is clearly 450hp short of what it should be.

From BAEs heritage page. Who actually did build the Seafires, a few company merges ago.

It seems the Griffon-powered Spitfires have been left to their fate by the devs.

Relevant to the topic, I just made a bug report for the FR 47’s fuel; Seafire FR 47 fuel incorrect

Oh, and a performance bug report based on the 1949 trials document; Seafire FR 47 performance incorrect

Document cover

trial cover

In testing, I got 489 km/h IAS @ 7100 m in level flight.

The document states 698.2 km/h IAS @ 7467.6 m in level flight (converted from Imperial measurements).
