I got two vehicles specifially labelled ‘reconnaisance cars’ but they can’t scout.

I’m not sure but I think that only rank III and above can scout. If I’m wrong then I’m wrong.
Pretty sure some rank 2s can scout too. It’s one of my easier tasks.
The rank is too low for active scouting, try the next SARC up the tree - battle rating 3.3

i can’t remember the exact reasoning but it might be due to seal-clubbers. i do think it should be at least looked at by gaijin though.

Here is Dodo’s half knowledge: If it has airstrike and improved optics, it can scout.
Which is (usually?) light tanks, rank 2 upward.
Gaijin being Gaijin.
They removed HE rounds from low calibers guns because new player might not know how to use them.
They said basically the same about scouting.
Instead of making new, good and up-to-date tutorials they just think that players will magically get that knowledge once they reach Rank II.

seems to me if you’re playing in a tier II or III match you ought to be able to scout with your little scout cars. They’ve just turned them into ‘reserve’ tanks. Which is silly to me.

It’s due to the majority of vehicles in Rank I being considered light tanks. So Gaijin just found it easier to stop everyone from getting it instead of only giving actual scout tanks the ability.

it’s lame but you can mark positions on the map at least. I always keep a scout car in my lineup so when the team melts down I don’t need to totally bail.
Yet some TDs or SPAA also get scouting. So if the logic is that Rank 1 has too many light tanks they could just limit the scouting to actual scout vehicles but instead they add a ton of scout vehicles, make them rank 1 and leave them without scouting ability.
