Saint-Chamond M2 (120mm Long FAMH)

Hello everyone :), what I would like to introduce today is Saint-Chamond M2 (120mm Long FAMH).

History

The Saint-Chamond tank was a tank extensively used by France during World War I. Due to its main gun being located at the front of the vehicle, the designer began considering the possibility of replacing its 75mm gun with a larger one.

In 1917, FAMH designed a 120mm howitzer while manufacturing self-propelled artillery and installed it on a Saint Chamond tank mounted tractor for testing This cannon was developed simultaneously with the Canon de 155 C mod è le 1915, but was not put into mass production. However, the designer still had the idea of installing it somewhere, and it is clear that this suitable choice is a tank chassis.

So, a version of this gun with an extended barrel was installed for testing on the Saint-Chamond tank 62400.The prototype tank was manufactured in 1918.This is a later M2 model of Saint-Chamond, equipped with wider tracks, increased frontal armor to 19mm, and partially reinforced armor to resist German “K” type bullets. This gun may have originated from the Schneider M1915 howitzer, capable of firing HE shells with a 4.7kg explosive warhead.

The design of this tank carrying large artillery may have been the earliest self-propelled artillery, which made the less successful tank chassis available for artillery units to attack exposed fire points or other targets. However, despite its promising future, this modified model was not realized. The reason is that the recoil of the gun is too strong, and the gun mount placed on the chassis is affected by the engine, which will collide with the engine when firing, so it was not put into production. The self-propelled gun also needs a new design. But until the end of the war, there were no further experiments or modifications of the tank.

In game

The Saint-Chamond M2 (120mm Long FAMH) is a distinctive French self-propelled artillery, with a powerful 120mm howitzer that can destroy any enemy encountered. However, its own engine is too weak, mobility is insufficient, and armor is not very thick. It is suitable as an activity vehicle to be added to the game.Suggest BR is 1.7.

Every time you fire it destroys the engine module, and you will be forced to repair if you wish to move again lol

And with the recoil you just get slammed to the side
It sounds infinitely too funny

+1 at br1.0, basically a side grade to sturmpanzer 2, tradeing gun velocity for mobility
