Are you able to explain what all these numbers mean? like, flaps polar, machcrit, multlimit, or multmachmax and so on? Cuz besides oswald, i cant really get anything out of it.
Nvm, you explained it already, thank you
i see
Flaps polar 0 is when flaps are raised , normal state of aircraft, and when Oswald efficiency is lower you lose more speed in turns
Overall interesting changes expect worse retention at all speeds but especially worse at medium to higher speeds (until mach .88) turnrate at low speed might be a little worse but the induced drag curve starting at a higher speed may counteract this
I mean, this might be technically buff in a sense… there is huge problem in losing speed while forcing overshoot, this might help with it, if player can play around it, its buff and not nerf in a sense.
This is true, but it will be harder for Gripen to turn forever while gaining speed I think
honestly with inferior retention I may find the flight model more interesting before it had UFO retention which made you eternally black out, could probably get away with more silly stuff now especially with reversals and get more out of your wacky AoA.
Anyways I guess stay tuned these changes will probably either go up tomorrow or Wednesday
Does “FlapsPolar1” refer to the leading edge flaps, then?
Most likely combat flaps, or whatever flaps mode comes after raised flaps on gripen
there are no combat flaps on gripen though, there is no mode whatsoever.
Gripens flaps are automatic iirc
I don’t think gripen has flaperons, just elevons.
Yup, no flaps at all.
Might be related to canards?
It’s meant to have auto magic leading edge type of flap iirc but in game can’t say I’ve ever seen it
It does have them, but they probably don’t move as much as they should. Related bug report Community Bug Reporting System
Appears it used to be able to do 2.2 mach previously (2.2 x 1.05 = 2.31 mach)… now it will be limited to 2.0 mach (2.0 x 1.05 = 2.1 mach)… So that is going through.
Drag value increased, sustained turns lowered, oswald efficiency less. Seems like a good fix to me.
Also my report.
I also did one on the static instability which would improve low speed handling / maneuverability if implemented.

Here’s a picture of a Grip that appears to have the slats extended much more than we get in-game (or is it the perspective and light tricking me?)
That would be my point too. It has a pretty insane TWR anyway, and half my problem is being able to retain so much speed that my pilot G locks 😂
By the way, has there been any information about Sweden having high-explosive Mavericks or at least IR-guided Mavericks?
i expected that the grippen would be nerfed it was soo soo opressing it was like f-5c of toptier
