It can hurt because the devs have acknowledged they have no interest in a historical Gripen so using a different radar to nerf the one in game is a terrible idea. Its the same problem that got the gripens in this mess was people bug reporting stuff they have no idea what they are bug reporting
Considering that the gripens in game are a mashup of a bunch of versions, does it really matter if its radar is a mashup of different versions as well? I mean, I’ll look for documents for the original ps-05 as well cause i might as well, but IMO it’s unlikely that the gimbal limit changed/decreased from og ps-05a
The original radar which is what we have in game was based on blue vixen, gaijin basically gave it blue vixen as a placeholder as the original radar iirc is not known spec wise, i could be wrong but for the game its a copy of blue vixen.
You’d be better off looking for blue vixen and doing actual research or asking questions before you put together a bug report in the future.
I think @Gunjob Did the original blue vixen research and got the Gripen it’s own radar, instead of old F16C placeholder, maybe he knows something

Blue Vixen was copied over as they had a shared development. They’re not identical IRL, we just didn’t have much data to go off.
It hasn’t been updated since they swapped from the F16C radar to blue Vixen yes. Its an old radar. So yes its the MK.1 model as that was used to balance the aircraft since info isn’t very available on the early Gripens.
My impression is that it’s “mk nothing”… it’s just a blue vixen because it was developed with it and no-one could find enough info to create the actual Gripen radar. Based on it’s capabilities in-game (mainly detection distances, and missing capabilities) it’s more alike a very early version of the Gripen radar, if even that

Thats my thought, gaijin figured Blue Vixen is good enough for the game and its more or less a hassle to add every single difference between the Gripens and their MS without giving different BR’s. Its easier to leave them as Amalgams that fit the BR gaijin wants.
To me it looks like a direct copy paste of blue vixen other than range and nctr when looking at the datamine files… it’s probably not even mk 1, its probably an amalgamation of the radars

Its simply a copy of Blue Vixen, there just isn’t enough public data on the Gripen for Gaijin to give a definitive answer. Which is why if I were you, id ask Smin to see if he could tell you. Again using a doc to nerf something that probably isn’t in game is a terrible idea that shows you had no thoughts before making your report. It also makes you less credible imo

sure, idrc what people think of me. i just want stuff to be semi accurate or at least close to accurate. and to me, I think that it’s unlikely that the gripen radar just somehow lost gimbal limit between revisions
Thing is it can keep the BV backend but have it’s own antenna set for its own nose cone. The report is valid.
Guess its up for gaijin to choose. The handling of the Gripens has been a mess since day 1, id rather have them just be ignored and left to rot rather than get messed with even further as there is almost no way to add historical Gripen C’s like MS19 and MS20
A bit off topic but there was a prototype Danish radar vehicle we had which had its gimbal limits reduced on the 2nd model before being scrapped. So its not the weirdest thing ive heard.

IK bars of the su-30/su-35 going from n011 to n011m had its azimuth cut (but thats becuase it switched from a planar array to a PESA).
But for example, n001vep of su-27sm variants had its gimbal limits increased (going form -45 to -55 in elevation) compared to standard n001
Yea, although I don’t really see a huge issue with making it 60° gimbal if good sources state it should be that? I want it to be as accurate as possible.
Of course I’d prefer if someone would actually put effort into trying to make a realistic PS-05/A radar report, instead of just finding a singular thing that “over performs” to nerf it when it’s missing so many features. Does not really surprise me though lol. The guy that nerfed turn rate admitted it subsequently messed up the acceleration performance a bunch but didn’t bother correcting it
I don’t have plans to fly the 39C anymore, power crept to hell and it’s missing most things that I find interesting about it IRL.
