SAAF JAS-39C Technical Data and Discussion

Don’t know if we even have official weight for the 39E. The NG is hard to know because I none of the demonstrators/prototypes are the same.

Yeah I’m just going off secondary sources that post the empty weight.
For example the one for the ng I’m getting from the mmrca competition

Maybe but if they did i haven’t seen it

I mean there are a handful of systems that are currently missing from the game that could be present as of now but refuse to model them. Ideally new gamemodes or a re-tweak of Air RB should be a thing tailored to jet gameplay but there’s little interest they’ll do that so 16v16 deathmatch for now.

120Cs are also a side grade with how they perform in game. They wouldn’t really benefit much on the Gripens and you might as well stick with the 120A/Bs still.

Im not overally familar with the Gripen. What do those add/change?

iirc, it’s an air force base.

Ah right… Thank you

Its kinda similar to our Skrydstrup air base here in denmark

Yeah, F7 is also hone to Gripencentrum where all Swedish and most foreign pilots do their training on Gripen.

Only real inaccuracy here is the lack of energy. Agility wise, the fins do not facilitate higher than 25-30g pull otherwise they stall thanks to the clipped nature of them, according to a myriad of simulations.

We now have the F-16 ADF with 6xAIM-120B at BR 13.3. In the following update the J-11A will move down to 13.3 (in DEV Server already). There will be a premium Flanker at 13.3 with ARH missiles. The JF-17 is at 13.3. Maybe it´s about time to move the SAAF JAS-39C to 13.3 as it only has R-Darter missiles?

Think given Gaijins stance on the Gripens its unlikely. You’re more likely to see its BR change when the IRIS-T missile gets added and the SAAF gripen is limited to only those

It’s very inconsistent. Some countries received weapons they never used because the vehicles “could” use them, but SAAF Gripen can’t use the AIM-120. Now I’m not against SAAF Gripen having Derbys, but the way Gaijin implements armaments just doesn’t make sense.

Britain is wierdly consistant at being excluded from that practice. Like no Napalm on the Phantoms

To be fair the SAAF Gripen has been given a lot of stuff it shouldn’t have, far more than any other Gripen.

*its been given MS20 upgrades it never received giving britain a fake aircraft.

*It has guided bombs it never had nor could use (Referring to GBU-39)

*It has access to AGM’s that it never used as SAAF only used Dumb bombs.

I could keep going but compared to the other Gripens gaijin has been very lenient on what Britain got with the SAAF Gripen for the sake of Balmce over accuracy so lets not pretend this is a case of the snail being unfair lol

I think a consistent way to do it would be sub-tress vehicles have all weapons from the host nations plus their own, provided they are compatible, and the hosts don’t have access to what’s unique to the subtrees. And for multiple subtrees in a host nation they don’t have access to weapons unique to each other.

Not really a good way to balance that imo, id much rather armament be allowed if the vehicle can use it irl, not oh look we realized this nations vehicle couldn’t use it so we decided to give them a vehicle they never used. Its why i despise the poor implementation of the Gripens, adding the A and C at the same time who are two very different MS series and having players who have no idea what MS series is doing bug reports got so much stuff screwed up tjat gaijin admitted they aren’t going to do MS so now we have these abominations in game.

I guess there just aren’t enough people playing Gripen for Gaijin to care?

I mean there was at one point but that was still not enough, besides its just common to screw sweden air, its why the A is borked and so is the C. The A could’ve been unique but gaijin had to power creep it by adding the C at the same time and likely at the same BR. All i can hope for is that the C’s are left to rot and the Gripen E/NG are given any semblance of thought since Sweden and china are the only nations without a proper fighter for air.
