Even after the buff Phoenix missiles are only useful against unawared pilots.
Not to mention Sparrows are basically useless against R27ER’s therefore your only option becomes using your rate fight abilities and Aim-9L’s.
Dont get me wrong i love F-14B and i still think its a better plane for Air Rb due to armament it can carry alongside with countermeasures and improved flight performance but i dont think it can win against Mig-29 in 1vs1 scenario except where it becomes sustained dogfight.
Thankfully there is a plethora of prem 11.3 players that dont understand the game that get hit by my Phoenix’s lol
Thats why i always carry 2 Phoenix missiles, never know when you actually get one of them lol.
Think we’ll ever get the gripen D? Not really a point outside of looks.

İ dont think twin seated version of Gripen will do Better then normal one.
Gripen NG and E will be better options.
And knowing Gaijin NG will be here most likely (even tho it was basically prototype version of E model).

Eh ill believe it when i see it. Ive been waiting since the j35d came out that sweden would get a new tt draken and well im still waiting for a competitive tt draken. (The D is okay but its all aspect hell)

Honestly. Not that big of a deal breaker. the low ammo count means id rarely rely on the Gripen to gun fight (though cna be done) and I think ARH would just turn it into a BVR truck
USA thought the same thing when they designed F-4 Phantom but Vietnam war taught one of most important thing in Military aviation history.
Having gun is always much better.

Honestly ever since i bought 35XS i never touched my 35D again.
Yeah ive played the AJ37, warthunder has taught me a gun is nice but not having tracers on a gunpod that shoots every round like a pellet from a shotgun is pointless when i can have a countermeasure pod instead. Bot having a gun wont affect me, i am the bullet.
Yet every other Nato jets still has gun, why do you think it is?
Just because USA took the same route doesnt mean its a good idea.

Yeah, its handy to have, but not always essential (though in that example. Missiles in Vietnam was extremely unreliable.)
But the hopefully soon to arrive Sea Harrier FA2, probably will run no guns. As the choice for the belly mounts is Aim-120B or 30mm ADEN Gunpod. I’ll probably always pick 2x AMRAAM over the ADENs
