SAAF JAS-39C Technical Data and Discussion

Not RIP, but in GRB it’s certainly a big con vs F-16, which can carry aim-120+AGM-65+GBU.

Gripen E should alleviate that, the gripen is a light fighter anyways so its not an f18 or f15. Besides finland will get the F18/A-C/D and the MLU 2 version

I do hope they add the british flight school camo for the SAAF gripen. Its not to bad and an unlockable skin should be available for every jet they add. Besides it would fit the british tree anyways

surely the gripen is still the best dogfighter in game? I mean its pretty much in the same maneuverability class as eurofighter and rafale is it not?

The C has below a 1 Thrust to weight ratio. The gripen E would make it on par with the EFT and Rafale as it improves the engine to above 1 TWR. Also since its smaller it ahould have better AOA than eft and Rafale but the problem is sustainability. Currently in game its the best but its going to get another FM nerf to 15° (f4e btw has 13.5°) f16 has about a 25+ aoa in the right conditions since its also over performing.

E version max AoA 20deg
TWR<1

Depends on how much fuel you bring, what loadout you have and mostly if you use afterburner or not.

Where did you get that info?

About AoA with a video about the simulator.About RWR.The mass empty is 8t, the thrust of the engine on the stand is 10t when installed in an airplane 0.9× 10 = 9000kgf, and 8 + fuel + 4 rockets ~ 11 tons are obtained

well. sure, but that still doesn’t answer my question.
where is that information available?

Only with full fuel and load.

That simulator is a one that sits in a museum iirc, and anyone can use it. Doubt it provides accurate data.

i don’t think you’ll get accurate data on anything relatively modern so the “public” data is the only thing we have to go on so that is probably what will be used in game as well.

uFo-16 block 10 is. Not gripen.

It’s from this discussion. Apparently G is limited to 8.5G too :P

The mass is given in the public domain, as is the thrust

well i assume its public, i’m asking where. what website/book/pamphlet/foldout/brochure? link?

20 degrees for a delta canard, that’s fine

no info on empty weight, no info on fuel capacity/max fuel weight.
