SAAB JAS 39E/F Gripen - General discussion

i mean with the fact that RBS 15 is coming we can maybe pray for gaijin to take a look at the gripen e about the sensors problems (we all know they wont)

also we going to get mk I rbs 15 so it cant do A2G because no fun allowed for sweden

Was that stated anywhere? Also, when it is on the dev-server, a report can be made and passed in real time for it to be made into the more advanced variant instead if it is the Mk1.

that RBS 15 is coming ? yes

that it will be mk I ? no, but we all know gaijin will add the worse thing ever to sweden when it comes to the gripen

Mk1 is my concern. We should be seeing mk4.

after some looking, mk1 cant be integrated to aircraft so we can expect at least mk3 or yeah mk4

The Su-30MKK derivatives can use IRST as a Laser Guidance system for SAL munitions.

In game the IRST can’t “lock” ground targets so it’s all guided by hand.

I hope we also get RB04 for Lansen and AJ Viggen for a few reasons, one of which is that the RB04 was the first aircraft launched anti ship missile (to my knowledge at least). Maybe RBS15F for AJS, JAS39 A/C and then Gungnir for 39E. 70km for AShM is more than enough for this game, only thing it would be lacking is the GNSS for air to ground but I can say that I would very rarely think to use it against ground targets tbh. Would much rather have 4 SPICE-250 than one RBS15 for CAS

…but there is no limit to the larp so it could still be used as A2G

joke aside, i forgot viggen and lansen could get it too, indeed it could be very nice specially on the viggen

RBS15F is the air launched version of the MK1. MK2 is only ground launched. MK3 is also only ground launched but the RBS15F-ER seems to be a thing according to the Wikipedia, which is basically just an air launched MK3. MK4 is both air and surface launched without any difference in names for some reason (not yet at least, might be once it enters service)

Lansen and AJ Viggen could only get RB04, the predecessor to RBS15. About 30-35km range with a rocket motor. AJS had both but primarily RBS15F, Gripen has only had RBS15F so far.

I had not until today seen that RBS15F-ER was even a thing to be honest. And it does not seem to be in service yet either but I am not sure. Would have to dig in a few years “årsredovisningar” and that, I can not be assed to do at the moment 🫪

mk4 provides stand off capability otherwise lacking on heavier targets. If you only use Gripen in ground, then you will see little use to it, but if you are partial to air to ground in other modes, it has uses.

I do play a bit of everything, and I certainly do enjoy doing some air to ground in SIM. Still, having 150kg explosives to hit a base there would not do too much, I would rather go in with bigger bombs under my wings a bit closer or maybe climb up and let them glide for a little while.

Aye, it won’t do too much, but the range you can loose it from can prove helpful. Suppose it differs in how you prefer to approach things

I found that AGM88 was displayed in the weapon display of Gripen E in some air shows on the ground. Can this be used as evidence for issue?

Mockups are very hit and miss sadly. You can try but I am not sure it will be accepted. Others are going to have better knowledge than me in that regard, any thoughts @Necronomica ?

Better than nothing. Always worth a try but i think it would need a better source as they are more cautious with unsourced images due to the AI incident.

Something i did look at though was the AGM-154 JSOW and GBU-53B SDB II. Trying to find the original source for this image:

but haven’t been able to for some reason, i swear i have seen it before.

Where did you find that image?
The photos uploaded on MDBA’s x page doesn’t have the AGM-88 in them.

I saw it in a pdf, but I cannot recall the name and haven’t it saved.

That’s exactly where i’m at. :(
