Well, Saab didn’t specify what model this weight belongs to, but it didn’t appear that the new jas39e has gained weight. Personally, I prefer that this total weight belongs to the new model.
Did some flight tests. Stick to balls, 16 degree sustained. Doesn’t like low speed turns (and fights most likely) so it’s going to be quite sluggish.
Sustained at speed is about 19-21 degrees at around 400-430 knots but would need more testing for sure.
I think the engine buff is a bit nice I guess as I saw some acceleration differences but overall probably have to take dogfights a bit more carefully now.
Basically just gonna be the weakest jet for close range fighting, it may actually be worse than the F16 for dogfighting (without aoa limiter)

Still its surprising they did some tweaks to thrust and stuff. Fully expected them to just slap more weight to it and call it a day
It might be able to still beat out some jets in the 1 circle, such as the F-16s, but in regards to its contemporaries like the J-10, both J-10A and J-10C will be able to beat the Gripen E.
I think it would be fine if the 39E was offset by some stronger close range weaponry but, still stuck with 9Ms and 120Cs for now…

Worry not, according to everyone else Sweden is the golden child, so surely we’ll receive a competitive addition to account for this change.

Still miffed about that changed they did because “weight” of the CMs when BOL deploys on a different bases than integral CM. Besides other aircraft than the Gripens (F-14 mainly) could probably benefit from BOL receiving a buff again.
Would be fine if they could model it properly, where it’s just as effective as regular flares but disperses much more quickly.

Guess have to wait for the actual update to drop. Best case might to avoid dogfights if you can especially against the other eurocanards and J-10s.
Probably easier to just avoid playing Gripen at that point lol
