SAAB JAS 39E/F Gripen - General discussion

Whats the best Air RB payload for the JAS39E Grippen?

2-3 AIM-120C-5s, 4/5 RB99
2x RB74M (AIM-9M)

But why rb99‘s and c-5‘s?

C-5’c are more suitable for long range while Rb99’s are better for close range engagements.

I run all aim120c5’s and 2x aim9m’s, i rarely have to launch from such an aspect that rb99 would hit but aim120c5 doesnt. c5 just has so much better reach when youre forced to launch from like 0.8mach at 2-4km altitudes which is how i mostly like to play the gripens, in 3-6km altitudes. this all is for SIM so keep it in mind, rb99 might be a bit better in air rb but i think its marginal gain compared to extended reach of the aim120c5. have not played JAS39E for a good while but going to spade it this evening, if anyone wants to do some teamplay with gripens in 3-5 hours send me a message ingame ( i think ill be playing all night from 17-18 PM until like 02-04 AM GMT UTC +3 timezone)

Btw if someone was doing that wing leading edge bug report, here is some decent footage how they act in high g pull atleast gripen C:

That’s the two seater D, might still be usable perhaps.
At 17:01 and onward the pilot in the front seat (the camera is on the student in the back seat) also says “I’m just holding the stick like this, alpha 17 [degrees], we have 4G’s”

In general really interesting and cool videos, it’s the defence forces own tv serries about fighter pilots in training, from first days till their finished :)
They have a couple of serries for different areas :)

i would think that atleast from C-D-E-F they should act atleast somewhat same, like pullin high G/high AoA the front edges should tilt down like in many other aircraft. it would enhance immersion and add another visual cue for sim play. look like they actually fixed movable canards behaviour to closer to real life which is a good start. i dont care whoevery dev i gotta blow but i want that JHMCS friendly tracker and like EF typhoon radar shows all contacts on HMD that are tracked by TWS, and keeps track on which youve launched already, even your own missiles are shown in the HMD, and more info on HMD like G pull like F18E/F has, so much easier to hold 6-7g pull consisently and avoid blacking out.

You sure about to pylons? mine can only fit 8x spices or 3x aim120’s still. cant to my own mix of ordnance on center pylons

To my understanding the report was about loadout icon rather than physical capability to mix weapons.

The canard report was fixed (surprised they fixed it within the couple months I’ve submitted it) but apparently the 39D might still be bugged.

Just hope gaijin could just change the values of the leading edge slats similar to how the J-10’s slats deploy

Maybe “landing flap” option, in which I submitted a bug report but I am trying to find more sources.

They bothered to fix the MAWS or RWR yet? Or are they still being maliciously inept?

Still only dispatching flares, no 360 sphere… yeah, they are taking their sweet time…

What’s compounding this: it’s been reported basically ever since the gripen-e landed on dev. Unless intra-gaijin communication channels have somehow swallowed the information (which i highly doubt), it should at least be sitting in someone’s documents.
To me it feels like they’re staggering the correction, as if waiting for some moment we yet don’t know. Or perhaps, they’re just preoccupied with fixing stuff (the sound engine being weird, graphics code being seemingly partially ripped apart). Also, this part of the year is quite welknown for low activity from devs, no major things so to expect…
Maybe resources reallocating to other divisions, like the infrantry project, modelling some new vehicles, mechanics or weapons for the next big patch, has maybe stripped the maintainer part of the dev team to a skelleton crew, who knows.
Honestly and personally, i’m frustrated that certain parts of the game feel neglected; right now, the most we can do is wait and hope. Perhaps, one too many missteps, and there’ll be another outrage, guess we’ll wait and see.

Yeah. Thing is game devs usually have different groups working on different things. I.E coding in infantry and the sound structure should fall under 2 separate departments. And fixing what I’m guessing is a faulty line of code for the MAW’s to be able to at least disperse chaff when it should and flares when it should. The EF does this so the system is already in place. Should be a 15min fix (I’m just guessing from my ass about time) but still, Feels like an easy fix. But here’s to hoping/Coping

right now, the cm bus, just farts out flares ;-; whenever it feels threatened

5 minute fix at worst. 5 minutes to validate the solution.

This kind of fault is not hard to resolve, even if you do it properly. This is just laziness or malice.

At some point we have to consider this as keyword regarding what Gaijin does.

remember the auction?
