Apparently, france is integrating AASM hammers onto the Gripens bound for Ukraine.
They didn’t work in nuclear escalation ime but may have changed since. YMMV
Not surprising really - the gripen is like an open source code where minor adjustments is required to integrate pretty much any NATO weapon on it. But good luck explaining that in a bug report
From all accounts I’ve seen, Gripen behaves significantly more friendly to integrating new changes than any oss project.

It is most certainly not open source. But it is made to be modular and easy to programme in new weapons so as you say it is very easy to integrate new weapons to the plane.

Think the main thing is the Gripen fielding the MIL-STD-1553 Avionics bus so integrating weapons should relatively be seamless as its commonly used in U.S and NATO equipped aircraft.
Obviously have to make sure the pylon system is compatible, etc. Speaking of Databus, here’s a databus chart, though on the earlier models.

so, its the same for weapons integration as any US fighter and should still be held to the same standards for compatibility

As long as it can be wired to the 1553 (or be recognized) and be supported pylon wise, it should integrate most NATO weaponry just fine.
then same goes for the Mig-29SMT
Just got to bash some pylons together that can fit NATO weaponry trust (looks at Ukraine with HARMs)
they dont have the HARM integraded
they basically dumb fire them and hope for the best

It would need to be MIL-STD-1760 as well.
I mentioned pylon wise too.
They could probably integrate the HARMs if they wanted but have no need to, considering that the F-16CMs do the main job of SEAD/DEAD within the USAF, in which they have plans to integrate AARGM-ERs too IIRC.
regular HARM has been put on F-15E, but not AARGM-ER and because of that we cannot see AARGM-ER on an F-15E for the time being, same goes for the Gripen and MIL-STD-1553 compliant weapons. it does not deserve special treatment because of a standard data bus that tons of top tiers already have
Gripen is explicitly intended to integrate any munition available in the purchasing nation’s armoury, that is amongst its most important selling points. So not only is it a standardised communication system between platform and munition, support is provided to streamline integration in the unlikely event the munition is not already set for the platform.
Ignoring that fact is a bit silly. Though some things are only cleared in theory, which for this project is not something that should be facilitated in all cases.
yeah because saab is one of the most aggressive marketers of the defense industry and knows that since their jet is nothing special, they have to emphasize features that have been a thing since the 1970’s in the hopes politicians and high level officials will think its something unique to the Gripen at all. most of the people in this thread have apparently fallen for it, including you.
Damn, UK must have been lying about the efforts the US went to in order to avoid integrating European munitions on their offerings.
