SAAB JAS 39E/F Gripen - General discussion

It seems to have turned tighter off the rail but it hit later so I think the A/B is still better for most close range engagements
A/B also burn for longer meaning better energy states in harder turns

I don’t think it’s capable of that?
Where did you see that it would be?

Or am i misunderstanding your statement?

Live server is like that.

Also what’s up with my munitions seekers not activating after the first one? I was using any relevant keybind I could find and nothing was turning on. I was just trying to test point lock capabilities of SPICE.

I made sure after this to release at slower speed as to not accidentally go over limit and it was still not working. Can someone else verify?

Ah, ignore me, i’ll blame my fault at me being sick x)

Seems like the outer pylons can no longer carry GBU-39/B on the dev.
I did a quick search and can’t find anything for that for the JAS39E, only the C

Wouldn’t it make sense that the E can carry more than C?

In the first dev version, the one where the belly pylons was split, the SDB was moved to the belly, though I think that’s really unreasonable.

Not automatically. We have to prove that it can. The E is essentially an entirely new aircraft in it’s electronics.

Why?

As far as i have been able to find so far i have seen no proof that the E can carry GBU-39/B on the outer pylons.

from the weight of the unguided bomb-racks (assuming that the rack for the m/71 bombs has a similar weight to the BRU-61/A), it should technically be able to.

Looks like the new limit will be 19 total glide bombs of any combination.

Weight isn’t the issue, it’s been seen with RBS 15F on all 4 wing pylons.

More likely maybe lacking the wiring to send the data necessary to the bomb before launch (if there actually is a compatibility issue). The RBS 15F is pre-programmed and the missiles have wireless Data Link.

Don’t we need to prove that the 39E can carry AIM-9M as well then as well? Not sure it has ever carried any other missile on the wingtips other than IRIS-T.

i’m assuming that it has similar compatibilities with MIL-STD-1760 as the inner wing pylon, but i can’t prove it yet without further digging

Is that so? I always thought if Gripen C in game could do it, then Gripen E could too.

SDBs work on any pylon wired for multi ejector smart munitions - which ofc the Gripen doesn’t have as standard. Solid chance the expense just wasn’t worth it - I don’t think any military ever has actually employed more than 4 BRU61s at once regardless of technical capability

It also just makes more sense when you consider drag and such - there’s no real need for mounting them on the outboard wing pylons

No, 39E AAMs are fictional for the time being

It was mostly a rhetorical question because I find Gaijins double standards very frustrating.

It’s hardly a double standard. They’re not going to add the IRIS-T prematurely just because it’s all the 39E uses, let’s engage some sense please.

Top tier would be busted if Gaijin applied that logic in favour of the British with the ASRAAM 🤥

there’s also some promotional brochures from saab that show it as capable of carrying on the outer wing pylons
EDIT: nvm, i misremembered a brochure
