Modeling a reduced signature would also help. Oh, and not missing a significant chunk of speed.
Really don’t get why they didn’t settle on mk4 with asm3 being added in the same update.

Read through thread again. There are many frustrations I have with this decision and none of them can be voiced politely. Why not just settle on the Mk4, instead of a fiction
That’s incorrect. I clarified the code name for the missile is Mk 3. Not that the devs have officially designated it as the Mk 3 and not thats its final variant name.
But why? In what world does even using anything other than MK.IV or MK.1 make sense?
Additionally if Gripens were the focus why not add Gungnir, you already gave the Japanese a 300km range missile. Instead the devs nickname a MK.1 the MK.3 and then leave us with a 70km range missile? No offense but it doesn’t seem like real thought was put into this. Honestly it’s more so a double standard, 80s missiles versus Japan and Russians new modern ones

Why was a missile more representative of the Gripen not chosen? Especially when we already have ship missiles with 300km range?

Codenames are decided very early on and sometimes by the initial concept of the missile / vehicle before its name or variant is fully decided. These simply exist for internal use and very frequently change from the final vehicle / weapon that’s featured. There are many examples across the game already.
This was decided so both Gripen and the AJS can have the missile. The AJ too potentially later as well.
So then is Gungnir planned so the Gripens have comparable weapons like the Japanese and Russian aircraft?
Especially given the MK.1 range and performance
Or is this another case of wait 12 years and we might get comparable weapons when they are already lacking behind the new weapons?

To my knowledge AJ37 could not carry RBS15F, Viggen got that capability with the AJS upgrades but I might be wrong, feel free to correct me.
I stand corrected. Disregard the text above.
AJ37 and A32 should get the RB04 though.
The RBS 15F became operational in 1989 before the AJ37 got upgraded to the AJS37 in ~1993 and onwards.

There is a period of time where Viggens undergoing the AJS modification could use them, they weren’t fully converted to AJS at that point, still under the name AJ
Given Gaijin decided to add the AJS early, then we can technically have the name of the AJ37 adjusted to the AJ37 (Late)
