Saab JA 37DI missing HMD

Out of all the issues the Viggen Di has for the BR. Lack of HMD isn’t one of them. Most don’t actually have HMD at that BR.

The poor performance of the RWR. (Not a lot can be done about this I think)

The lack of IRCCM missile (I think there is a bug report in for this)

And

The poor performance / ahistorical modeling of BOL (definetly bug reports in for this)

have a far greater impact on performance.

Not to mention the flight performance, in any sort of dogfight with things at your BR (even the stuff the JA37C faces) you gonna lose because you dump so much energy while doing the slightest of turns and the rudder is just not doing it’s thing in general

Yeah, there is that. But FM improvements are uphill battle. So unlikely to ever happen

Fun fact, there was actually a tested HMD system for the viggen! It was intended to be fully plug and play and required no integration into existing aircraft, but it was only tested and not fielded in production/service. I believe this was discussed in a thread about the aircraft before it was added, along with other things like its then missing datalink channels and still absent Aim-9Li (I believe the argument for the Aim-9Li was that it was acquired before the Gripen entered service and the viggen left). I think there was even a tested IRST system too.

So, not a regular feature.

Essentially no, but we have a couple of things in war thunder that don’t have regular features (cough agave thermal sight for T-80B). If the vehicle continues to preform horribly, I could see this being added to help assist the aircraft in an attempt to make it competitive. Its preform poorly right now, and this could be a solution (among other things, such as the Aim-9Li ofc).

HMD isn’t a necessity…
Most F-16s don’t have HMDs.

People ( with reputable sources, at the very least partially declassified ones) posted about it. it had no direction finding, just some basic warnings for launch and lock iirc

I know it can’t be lowered to 12.7 but I don’t think it deserves the same BR as Kfir or F4F-KWS at all

So if I unterstood all of these comments right it means that they will maybe add hmd and maybe add aim9l/i heatseekers

Nnnope.
Didn’t get it right bud.

Then what?

it was tested but never implemented on a larger scale, such as for example the navy’s phantom HMD.
We ( or you, i dont play sweden) might see that particular test plane in the future however.
Dont keep your hopes up though, sweden is already weak future additions wise ( at higher tiers), the few unique planes they can still squeeze in will probably be those prototypes in premium form.

F4F-ICE and F3 Late are likely under-BRed (though are correct to be the same BR)

But I think there is room enough to buff the Viggen DI to the point where it might be more reasonably placed at 13.0

As stated by Smin there are no intentions to change the current Di or currently look at adding the OTIS.

Large scale changes probably not. But if a good source is provided for Aim-9Li then its possible that will come for it.

and there are non-specific changes such as BOL Overhaul which would be a MASSIVE buff for the Viggen DI, as well as the SHar and Tornado.

I agree that we need a big decompression, but not so much for the Kfir C10 and the JA37DI to have the same BR. Both jets are ARH missile carriers, but the C10 has one of the best radar and RWR currently in the game with HMD, compared to the JA37DI’s nearly unusable RWR and lack of HMD.

I searched the ja37 on Wikipedia and idk if it’s the right plane but the plane in the game doesn’t have its historical loadout (the page is on German but you can translate it) Saab Viggen – Wikipedia

Can you compare the Kfir C10 package to 13,7s then?
Everything is decompression at this point. With the current ranks everything we say is hit and miss.

Yeah we really would need decompression
