That’s because it is, it unfortunately only existed in mockup, the plan was to export a unique version of the Viggen with a in air refueling probe in the nose and with the ability to use long range US AIM 54, the sale of which was denied so the aircraft unfortunately fell through with it never seeing the light of day.
It’s definitely a neat vehicle and if gaijin ever looks for weird planned vehicles for AU or Sweden then Gaijin could add it.
There are tons of interesting vehicles like this, but they have a hard stand, because they never existed except on paper.
Not exactly, this is essentially a planned upgrade for a existing vehicle, no different than the Tog 2 upgrade we have in game or the Yak 141 in its current state

That’s quite a bit farther away from (possible) reality than the TOG II or Yak-141…
I mean, it’s not that much of a change from the standard Viggen though? It’s a refueling probe, and AIM-54, it’s not like it got a new fuselage or wing design. It’s literally a hardware update and a fuel probe, I mean if we consider that massive then I am afraid what you call a new internal gun, 2 additional side gun rooms with a new armor layout for the Tog that only existed on paper and not mockup
As I understand the whole avionics, especially the radar but also flight control would have been exchanged.
You can of course try to suggest it, I just see noch chance for it, and personally I’m against such planned-but-never-realized vehicles.
I know there are exceptions in WT still, but the doors seem to close more for them than they getting more opened…
Honestly at that point it’s no different from a majority of vehicles we already have.
We have Gripens with radars they shouldn’t be using, they should be using their better radars, we have a Gripen that never bought MS20 and thus never got the new avionics nor hardware to use GPS guided bombs alongside the wrong weight on them based on whatever gaijin wants over what the jet should actually use.
We are long past that point imo, I’d much rather see all nations get them or all vehicles like that be removed. Basically all hornets aside from the F-18C and the US and HUGS 2 would lose their armament and this could go on and on.
Again what we have in the AU37 realistically is more on the light side compared to what we already have in game. Besides the Viggens already mounted proto meteor made by SAAB alongside their own domestic RB73, again if gaijin seems domestic missiles too strong I don’t see a reason a vehicle with only 2x Aim 54 would be that strong or unrealistic
