Is the Leclerc meta?
I don’t think so…
The last time I thought about meta I determined 12.7 Leopard 2s [Strv 122s too] and Abrams were the meta boys.
With how powerful Abrams are now… it’s hard to imagine anything less than those two top BR platforms being meta.
I performed better and had more fun in my premium Ariete at 12.7 (played it in a lineup with my 2A7HU) than I did and had in my T-90M.
And the 11.7 Arietes are generally worse than the M1A1.
the Ariete’s at 10.7 and 11.7 are really slept on icl
and if the Ariete AMV ever receives some love from Gaijin in the form of historical buff bug fixes (or just more of them added) it’d also get much better.
Exactly. The M1A1 isn’t 12.7 material.
Some people will get more use out of the Ariete than the T-90M, it’s just one operates more around its gun while the other operates around durability.
I personally can make do with 3BM60 and a 7-second reload if I play carefully. It isn’t a meta tank by any means, but it’s a lot more enjoyable to play for me simply because I don’t have to worry about someone glancing my direction briefly and getting a free kill regardless of shell placement and range, and because I like the T-90M visually. It also excels at fighting hull down on an embankment if given the opportunity, like the Leopard and Abrams.
I will say though, on the new Abrams (Trophy/v3), the giant FCS block loves to eat spall. It often bails you out giving the enemy only “driver/gunner or loader/fcs/engine” while you can return fire.
Uploading: Abrams FCS Spall Liner 1.mp4…
Since the other one didnt upload:
Wow double BMPT kill in one battle.
As far as I’m aware this is also on the M1A1, probably something to do with the rework.
The spall is already mitigated before it reaches the FCS module, so I’m doubtful that’s the problem.
Did you use lifetime stats?
You’d be better off comparing the stats of the BVM and other russian top tiers the month of and the month after their release.
Then do a comparison of their performance now to their release stats.
Yeah new brams is great blah blah blah. Best players went to play it, this happens with many (not all? new top tier vehicles. They crush for a month or two and then the player base goes back to their preferred nations.
there tanks being bad is what keeps them balanced right now at toptier cause you cant have all three
every country has one to 2 of these things
GOOD CAS
GOOD SPAA
GOOD TANKS
russia has good cas and good SPAA
america has good cas and good tanks
germany has Good cas and good tanks
etc
Forgot about the M1A1. But it applies to it as well.
I have not really done analysis in the protection… analysis… but I will sometime later. I do think the FCS is the cause, but if there’s proof of something else causing it, I’m happy to be wrong.
Most likely the same as on russian (and others but the “free space” to the left/right is comparable) where the driver catches most of the spall as he occupies a decently large part of the space.
The FCS module, unlike horizontal-drive for example, doesnt create spall when struck (like autoloader-, & electronic equipment-modules), so given nothing else is hit, the only remaining spall is whatever makes it past the driver.
Thank you. I have had to repeat this for many years.
Thanks, glad I could help.
Statshark doesn’t go back much more than a year and a bit, the T-80BVM released many years ago, that data is not available.
It also wouldn’t work because the T-80BVM did not face the same opposition as it does now, nor was the T-80BVM the same in terms of it’s characteristics as it is now (I.E., destructible autoloader module, changes to ammunition, reload, armour, etc.).
T-90M Arena is also new, yet it’s got among the lowest performance stats.
The data we have is only from a limited number of days given that the update released late in the month, that means it’s mostly experienced player and/or whales that GE’d these vehicles whose stats have shown up.
Of course the stats will drop for the US M1’s, but I’m certainly curious to what degree they’ll drop next month. I would not be surprised if the stats are still significantly better than those for the T-80BVM, T-90M and Arena.
T-80BVM the 2 months it released was getting memed on by Abrams & Leopard 2A5.
T-80BVM didn’t become a “menace” until a year or so after its release.
Cause unlike skilled players flocking to Abrams quickly, it was not as quick with the T-80BVM.
The Abrams quite literally has the same 2 fuel tanks in front that can be used to bait LFP shots around corners, no other MBT can do this. They are also covered by steel plates that can occasionally just eat an entire shell thanks to volumetric
I’m not entirely sure what you’re talking about here. A shell that goes for the fuel tank around a corner will kill the driver the majority of the time, and you’re still getting set on fire, which isn’t good. Aside from taking 1 of only 2 FPE to put out, it also halts your reload and movement in the Abrams.
I could have phrased my statement better, but claiming that the Abrams, Leopard, or any tank has consistently inconsistent armor compared to Russian tanks with Heavy ERA is disingenuous. There are many times where you can do everything literally right, have a perfect flat side shot into an ammorack, and Contact-5/Relikt will just ragdoll or eat it.
Just 2 weeks ago, I played about 98 matches in my T-80UD alone and had an average of 2-3 shells hit me per game on the side while doing nothing because the ERA acts up frequently in unexpected and unpredictable ways. This resulted in an easy 2~KD and a 65% win rate while I played, leaning back and distracted.
Internal Steel plates regenerate spall when a shell passes through them, so not having an extra plate is better.

Why isn’t the T-90M Arena up there then since it’s a new vehicle?
