They break their own rules
Not entirely, I’m sure its a case of “its technically possible” which they’ve been using for a few years now.
Keep in mind the Su-30SM is a upgraded variant of the Su-30MKI.
usually they need some proof, and in SU-30SM I can’t find any.
If I remember correctly, Su-30MKI has it’s own system to fit the foreign weapons in India.
and to be honest, “its technically possible” fits every modern plane with degital highway system. you can just upgrade your system, install some drive then you are able to use anything you want, as long as the loadout can be carried.
But I don’t think gaijin will admit this now
probably something to do with consultants
BVVD said that since export variants of Su-30 have TGPs like MKM - Damocles, MKI - Litening, they decided they should give the Russian version an optical pod aswell and they went with T/220 since they know that it was used on other jets like MiG-29M, MiG-35 and Su-35S.
I think it’d be best if they kept Su-30SM2 for when they drop F/A-18E imo.
Personally would have went with sapsan but imma take it.
What aircraft is this on?
Su-30SM
SAPSAN is not a copy of DAMOCLES, they are two separate projects.
Info on the sapsan is much harder to find
would have thought some of the russian language researchers would be able to dig something up. I do get your point tho.
Sapsan is a mythical creature to researchers, I’ve even tried myself, it’s a boss battle that can’t be beat.
T/220 and Damocles are the only options.
Because its not real, the producers were sued for not making a functional product. (it was hollow)
*Edit, SAPSAN-E isn’t real, SAPSAN is (ignore this message)
Mythical only to inattentive researchers. More than half a year ago I found all the official documents on its creation.
The prototypes have been made.

That’s a lie. Sapsan was created. The export version was not
Man… why does this shit gotta be so DAMN confusing 😭
Fixed my message above, sorry for the mistake.
I already knew about this, but the question is do you have detailed enough information for such a pod to be implemented?
yes
Before when I brought it up nobody knew what resolution it ran in
