You could argue that both are simplifications. Id say that one is a necessary simplification, because the mechanic is simply not in the game and the other is just lazy modeling. But i will concede that its not russian bias since all ERA is modeled like that after all.
And was the seeker of the 38MT ever tested as a functional weapon? We do not know which is precisely the problem.

There is none that the 38MT ever existed as a functional weapon while Spice does undoubtedly exist.
