It was very good without basket in cqc as its survivability was quite good. Though now stuff like Abrams are just much better due to Merk receiving basket.
I think its a double edge sword.
On one hand basket decreases CQC performance a lot but on the other hand it sometimes catches fragment that would normally go to rack on hull and saves your life (granted you will loose at least one crew member and FCS in best case scenario).
The mobility stops you from getting shot over 80% of the time to begin with.
Basket was never a factor for me.

In 100 games my Pantsir-SM win rate > 80%. This basically tells you that when facing it, you can only use tanks (yes, it’s the most terrifying entity in Russian bias, surpassing BMPT, KH38, LMUR, and any other).So Gaijin permit Japan use KH38
