I know that RAF Sparrow / Skyflash was regarded as a very accurate missile right up until AMRAAM came along - so long as it was used properly.
Then again, this is from the real-world rather than the rather wonky world of War Thunder where what works in real-life often doesn’t (and what is terrible in real life cough certain Russian AA systems cough works wonderfully!)
I fully agree. They need to bring back the necessity to at least be somewhat aware and develop some sort of skill and be careful in helis to be effective instead of just almost staying still close to 0 closure rate to be almost invincible to 80% of top tier spaa. And thats me saying that as a heli enthusiast^^ atm its random and not fun playing them and certainly its not fun facing them. Lose lose situation
Isn’t the free spawn SPAA for us at top tier the Adats, which is one of the best Free Spawn Saclos/beam riding spaa to kill those helis (ofc unless they simply stay out of its range)?

? i mean…what? either youre playing the 12.7 ground lineup and you get the adats as free spawn or you dont play top tier at a lower br and get the LAV. its not like you can chose what your free spawn spaa will be when youre queueing with a 12.7 lineup?
I play 12.0 and every match is a 12.7 uptier. I get both the LAV-AD and the ADATS as free spawns. I personally consider top tier to be a bit more broad than simply the highest possible BR.
You can kill the BMPT-72 when you manage to hit crew, since it’s just 3 people.
BMPT-72 can be HE’d by multiple HE shells from NATO MBTs

The lineup you use with the respective best tanks and cas. 10.0 to 11.7 maybe high tier etc etc. Especially since you wont see Top helis with anything lower than a 12.0 ground lineup and the best fixed wing cas with anything if you dont have top jets in your lineup as well. But huh? u get both the adats and the LAV as free spawn in the same match? how?
I think it’s because the ADATS is 11.7. I started bringing the LAV-AD in my lineup and now I only get the ADATS, but I have seen several other 12.0s (usually Click-Bait players) get both as free vehicles. It might also be because of how few systems there are for the US to use. I’ve even seen in some 12.0 matches people getting both the base Pantsir and 2S6.
Ok thats weird. never paid too much attention to that bc the lineups i bring into every game are maxed out. But thats wild that it works this way. Always thought its one medium,one light and one spaa? maybe bc us doesnt have a light at that br? But then that should be the stryker? im confused…anways it is what it is and its getting a bit offtopic by now xD

well as long as you get the adats it should be somewhat fine and kinda in line with other nations. Unlucky Japan, you dont get any spaa anywhere to deal with helis OR planes OR ordinance OR drones. Same with israel. Unlucky. Maybe perform worse in our top tier spaa, youll get improvement. Oh. Wait a second…
I guess the “bias” is that Russia seems to always get a new SPAA every other update, and it ends up being busted initially then gets nerfed over time. M53/59 being super good at knocking out ground targets, the Strela being miles better than the Stinger on release, The Osa shaking up its BR due to a second massive range advantage in tandem with the 2S6, etc.
OSA is in multiple nations: Germany, GB as well but i get what u mean.
Russia is not top dog in Anti air and intercepting ordinance anymore → Here comes best spaa in the game vs every threat possible and can even be used to defend vs ground.
Japanese top tier spaa thats even worse than the buks TELARs stats (which can still get kills after the telar died with the launch vehicles): not an issue.
I mean the Strela can still be used in top tier if out of other options and quite succesfully so, especially if in a good position where long range cas doesnt immediately find it due to contrast seeker and no search radar. Obviously way less efficient than actual top tier spaa, fighting close range cas it still outperforms flarak, even the type 03 by miles. Its impossible to defend the team from long range standoff munitions but brimstone and other close to medium range cas is insanely dangerous with one of these up anywhere. Exactly what its impossible to defend from using the Type 03.
Osa and Strela were added to other nations much later down the line, as they were initially Russian exclusives. Several nations still have plenty of interesting systems (the US has several, including the Linebacker, Avenger, C-RAM, M-SHORAD, etc) but Gaijin thinks Russia needs yet another SPAA.

no, the safest and easiest way to shoot down LDIRCM helis is with TV guided ATGMs
and guess who gets the most options for those at top tier
It was a hell of a lot better than Stinger systems due to a better IRCCM (at the time) and the optical mode for the missiles which couldn’t be defeated with countermeasures. The Strela is also why Stingers are still nerfed to this day due to poor assumptions on Gaijin’s part.
