The R-74M is an R-73 with a different seeker its capabilities are the same. The major changes are only found in the R-74M2, and even so, it still does not have the same capabilities as an AIM-9X.
You know this is an arcade game that tries to be realistic, right?

aim 9m has a similar range to R 73 of around 30km maximum
while 9x has significantly reduced drag due to smaller fins, nose geometry, and removing the rollerons, so a 40-50km max range for 9x is reasonable
and its theoretically possible for more if the battery life was improved, because its also important to note the 30km 9m range is from the navy, so likely when launched by a super hornet meaning lower speed and altitude than something like an F15 or F22 launch

R-73 does have slightly better range performance realistically, but 9M has better acceleration and doesn’t kill itself as quickly
9X does not have a DL, it was added in BLK.2

Yeah I mixed them up
Games still a bag of pish, hand holding Russian tanks in top tier they don’t even need CAS anymore BMP-Ts and even T-80UE just rush forward and yes you may kill a few ultimately they overwhelm you and camp the spawn.
A hull down Russian tank is harder to deal with than a Leopard 2A7 or an M1A2. Took out a T-90Ms breach 4 times never once killed a crew member (you know how large and famously cavernous T-90s are!)
Unloaded 100+ 40mm darts into the side of a T-80BVM autoloader just ate all the shots and then he shot me in the face.
Game is unbearably dull at top tier.

There are some absolutely massive skill issues in this part, holy.
So you shot the same guy in roughly the same spot 4 times and you didn’t either run him down to finish him or just leave him there for other targets?
The Ajax fires 200 rounds/min. So if we exclude ready rack shenanigans for now firing 100 rounds in an ajax would take 30 seconds of firing non stop.
So you were firing into the side of a BVM for 30 seconds straight and you didn’t think for a second to aim at different parts of the side?
T-series can be annoying to deal with for autocannons, yes, but if you are telling the truth 100+ 40mm shells for a single T-80BVM is an unbelievable skill issue.

He is lying. I’d bet money on it. The RR is 62 rounds, so itd take close to 10 minutes assuming he fires after every replenished round.

Doesnt r74m2 have a stronger motor? R73 ingame has pretty poor acceleration but quite good range, aim9x has much less drag sure but its still a 9m motor + there is no difference between dual band and imaging infrared ingame i wager r74m2 will be better than 9x block 2 ingame. Atleast i expect nothing less these days

Ajax is an exageration but the point remains had that been a Leopard or an M1 it would be dead.
The T-90 I would have had to cross no mans land to secure the kill. My issue is how there is no spall generated and no crew killed.
Conversely he shot my breach and killed 2 crew members.
