My question stands.
What are the, if there are indeed any, policies or rules the moderators have to follow in the course of their duties here?
I’ve got one little hint for you, continuously posting the same thing over and over again despite it having already been closed is just going to get you permanently banned from the forums. Moderators follow the same guidelines as we, and they are only permitted to take action when said guidelines are breached, which determination of is at their discretion.
Also, do yourself a favor and read why your original was closed: Rules for thee but not for me - #4
My last thread wasnt against the policy, all i did was ask a question and give the background for it.
I made a new thread because once again i received no warnings my previous one was in violation, with the hopes that this one removes any “violations” that may have been in the last one.
And the policy for normal users does not make mention of if warnings have to be given before banning someone, or if the mods can just ban people whenever without attempting to notify the “offender” before hand.
And just like the mod that wrote that, clearly you didnt read my post.
What I say after a ban cant be the reason for the ban that is already over with.
Did you know it can be reason for another ban?
That’s usually how ban policies works. You’re given the ToS and expected to adhere to it. You aren’t just going to get a message from some random moderator “hey you’re using botting software, please stop or we will ban you” just as you aren’t going to get warnings beforehand when a ban is placed. Usually, you will get a direct message with an explanation on your ban.
It’s worth noting that most places that include moderation usually enforce off of the ToS that those using it are given. Gaijin’s moderation policy in terms of ban durations are also explained in the quote of the mod’s closing response, if that were an area of issue.
Heres what I found on Moderator policy.
Admittedly, the info is 10years old, which is why I asked the question to begin with.
In an effort to increase transparency regarding the moderation of the forums, we decided to post the internal guidelines that our Moderators adhere to. If any of our members have any questions or concerns regarding this guidelines, feel free to PM any member of the Senior Staff.
- Minor incivility is not productive and should be avoided at all times: “I don’t think we should take this player seriously, because X and Y”, “This is nonsense”, etc. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and comments such as those simply open the door for more incendiary reprisals and do not provide a discussion with any sensible direction.
- Be RESPECTFUL even if you’re not being RESPECTED. It can get a little heated around here, but cooler heads lead to cooler conversations and better decisions.
- Keep your cool, try and avoid taking it personally, if you are finding yourself getting emotionally involved and/or bullied then ask one of the other members of the team to step in and monitor the discussion. Remember that in most cases, an emotional user’s reaction is not aimed against you, but to express discontent with a game decision.
- Unsure of how to respond to a situation? Message your peers and bounce their ideas off of yours. We all have the potential to make mistakes, but this is limited when a group consensus is formed. You may discover something that you didn’t consider before.
- Treat others in the manner you would wish to be treated, fairly and Justly. Remember we have a wide audience from all different age groups and cultural backgrounds.
- What you do reflects on the rest of the team and Gaijin, you are seen as an official voice which can lead to either productive discussions or incendiary ones, depending on how you present yourself. Ask yourself if your action could have negative consequences for the community and if the answer is yes, you should probably not do it.
- When issuing warnings, or mitigating a situation between two members, always strive for the least punishing response. A verbal warning is always better than a moderation queue or a suspension, in anything but the most extreme circumstances. Escalation should only occur when a member chooses not to heed the first 2-3 verbal warnings we issue. Keep in mind the nature of the infraction. Someone just trolling for a bit of fun is not equal to someone posting an image of someone being violently assaulted or killed, for example.
Policy has definitely changed since, though I will admit reading through those there is a lot less of moderation procedure and more moderator guidelines, which tbf procedure would make more sense in the regard, as guidelines can’t really be met if there is no discernable procedures in place.
Posting on the forums is a bit different than using bot software. We are allowed to have differing opinions here, even if they differ from the moderators and devs, and we are allowed to voice them.
That is the whole reason for a forum right?
I never received a message with this explanation, only one that said my account was on hold.
This is to be expected, but in this instance I wasnt violating any of the ToS, I just have a difference of opinion to the dev and the moderator.
It was the easiest comparison I could think of tbf, though it would be closer to if people making violent threats were given a warning first, though they’re still two completely different levels.
Which is weirdly part of ToS, which makes sense for most cases but is still odd.
Keyword in there was usually, it varies depending on what it was and whatnot, like I’ll get a system notis if a post I made was flagged and removed, though I’ve never had anything more than that
Violent comments I understand if there is no warnings for, that is self explanatory, but nothing Ive done rises above the level of “Hey what you are doing could cause you trouble because of this.”
Right?
But, at least according to the way I read it, this regards directly arguing with a mod/dev and doesnt mean that you cant disagree with them.
If that were the case the dev couldve perma banned me (and 99% of everyone else here) years ago.
I wanna say it’ll at least be an hour
There have been such a high number of unpopular additions to this game, I feel like one of the largest waves would’ve been around the F-20, if anyone were still here
If all we could do here is praise Gaijin, then there would be no reason for anyone to ever be here.
Forums is all about discussion, if every dissenting opinion is silenced then there is no discussion.
And sadly I dont expect much of this topic. What I expect to happen is the same mod to follow me here and close this one without cause as well. Which just gives me more evidence when I make another support ticket.
Nothing about this thread is against any Gaijin policy, all I did was ask a question.
You can pm a senior mod or CM if you have these questions, Stop creating topics like this. Also not sure why you’re going to gaijin support for this, when all you have to do is like i’ve said before;
