9 times out of 10 this round does zero damage, as it, it’s basically a ghost shell. I understand how a smaller dart shouldn’t have as much post pen as a 105mm or 120mm, but this round is truly ridiculous for the amount of times it literally does ZERO damage when penetrating armor. There must be something bugged with it where it consistently creates no spall whatsoever.
There are many much smaller, lighter, slower projectiles that do far more damage than this round.
I just used that tank yesterday, and yes, its ammo is pathetic. It’s completely random, but with a high chance of only killing one crew member, leaving everything else untouched.

The dart in the 2S38 is 1kg and travels slower and does 1000x the damage. Sabot from 30mm weigh .5kg, are slower and do 1000x the damage.
apfsds damage formula doesn’t use weight like on AP shells, it uses caliber and penetration left after going through the plate, if the plate is too thin or too thick = low damage.
(APFSDS Caliber < 90mm) = low damage
Not true, it is just fired like 20x faster so you don’t notice it.
Its just low caliber.
Fun Fact: It is the same Dart as the OTOMATIC uses
Such is life with low caliber shells unfortunately. It is really a great experience to pump half a dozen 75mm APFSDS on MBTs side armor only to see next to no damage.
If it was just a result of it being low caliber, then 2S38 and APDS from Rarden would do less post pen, they do way more.
When I say no damage, I mean no damage. The shell is shown penetrating and that’s it, literally no damage. This is not on thin skinned vehicles, this is on the side of Leopards, KPz, T62, etc.
At least buff the reload of this thing, it has the same reload as 105mm.
