This photograph was taken around 1990 in Kinmen. The M24 tank shown is suspected to belong to the Jindong Division. On the lower front armor plate of the vehicle, the following text is stenciled:
“This equipment is valued at NT$2,981,580. Please keep it properly and use it with care.”
The Chinese text is as follows
本裝備計值新台幣
2981580元整
需妥善保管愛惜使用
Actually, this also includes the M42, the M18, and other vehicles — each one had a slightly different price.
In the ROC Army, there were a large number of authentic unit decals used in real service. Kinmen alone had several that look very similar to British WWII markings. At the moment, most of these valuable photos can be found on Facebook, and I’m trying to collect as many as possible from there.
The previous vehicle color error report was also submitted by me.
Actually, it was related to the historical context at the time. To prevent conscripted soldiers from casually damaging or messing around with equipment like they might in school, the military simply spray-painted price labels on almost everything.
This included rifles, towed artillery pieces, the M151, and other equipment.
i know, but in game they are trolling decals. one ahistorical “This equipment is valued at SL XXXXXX. Please keep it properly and use it with care.” would be hilarious to see.
