HISTORY
The Fury first flew in March 1929 and entered service with the British Air Force from May 1931. Around 275 Furys were produced by Hawker, a further 40 were also produced under license in Yugoslavia. It was exported to Iran, Yugoslavia, Portugal, Spain and South Africa. One aircraft was also purchased by Norway for the Norwegian Air Force for evaluation, this plane was equipped with an Armstrong Siddeley Panther III A radial engine.
The British Hawker Fury was another machine the commission considered. One machine was purchased for testing in the spring of 1932, and it was ready for testing in the spring of 1933. Originally, this aircraft was designed for the Rolls Royce Kestrel in-line engine, and with the Phanter engine, performance was reduced. In addition, the center of gravity was shifted forward, so that the tail was too light. This led to several buckets during taxiing on the ground, and the aircraft had to return to the Hawker factory for repairs
