RN Roma: City at Sea

Turret 3’s firing angle is so messed up. It looks like you can shoot there but some reason you can’t. Also after getting ammo wetting, it’s better on blowing up but the Conte and Duillio are way more survivable.

So I checked Statshark and the Roma is the worst new battleship in the game. The win rate and kills per death are terrible. I thought it was me while playing the game but apparently it’s a low performer. The reload is a joke. Older Italian ships have a better reload than the Roma but somehow Italy forgot how to design guns and the reload is twice as long. Also the crew dies off so quickly. There is something seriously wrong with how GJ modelled this ship.

Nha NHA you are only repeating fake news. Everything is fine and absolutely e-Sports ready

Actually 45 seconds reload, which last till 1941, is due to gun design flaw, so what you’re saying is right XD. They fix it after but still cannot guarantee same speed as older ships.

And plus reload, I’ll take elevator fire as another serious drawback for her.

You have no idea what you are talking about

I’m very clear of what I’m saying.

It is undeniable fact that Italian 381/50 gun has design failure at beginning, makes her reload slower than what designed.
And ingame, long reload is not only problem, but barbette fire is another problem of her.

@Taffu92 explained every thing here:

I know that thing and that record is after gun fixed.

Not design failures, but it was new and required experience and correct flaws of youth

They are not design flaws or mechanical problems but the way the test were conducted. In game the reload is based on on-board tests while other ships (ehm ehm Soyuz) uses reload times taken on the ground and most importantly with the gun isolated from the turret. That’s the obly big difference.

Just to clarify this misconception.

The only major issue on the 381/50 was the initial aggressive rifling of the gun that caused the projectile to overspin, gaining lift, causing it to follow a non optimal trajectory ( this was fixed in late 1941).

The gun itself, over hundreds of shots fired, failed less than 5% of those.
Most of the failures are dated in 1939-1940 and most of them ( more than 70%) were due to crew inexperience around those new guns.
I say failure but the main problem was mostly the crew not being able to load the elevator with enough charges in time so, as the powder chamber had to be fully loaded to fire, the crew in the turret had to manually open the gun, unload the charges and the projectiles and start the process anew.

This was solved as the crew gained experience working around the new system.
Cases of missfire were extremely rare ( and I mean less than the acceptable 5%) and none of them led to the loss of the turret.

EDIT:

To be extremely fair the machanical rammer itself had initial issues (also dated 1939- late 1940 ), but again this was an early problem as the engeneers had to tweak the idraulic force moving it to avoid excessive stress that led to bending or misalliigning.

In game the ships ( and all other machines) are presented in their best condition ( “looking at the transmissions and engines of axis and allied nations in the corner” ) and it’s strange not to see it applied to everyone.

Oh would you look at that, a good amount of underperforming vehicles in ground are receiving reload buffs this BR changes but no reload buff or bug fixes on Roma, very good gaijin

Spoiler

Turret 3 finally fixed on the dev server, now we’ll have to wait for the reload and the missing armor pieces ( unless they’ll wait and see if unlocking the turret will make her too powerful to handle577e68efd48f3_) )

Why is the external armour missing on the Roma? I was looking at the Soyuz to see where the weaknesses are and noticed this massive 406 mm belt. I checked Roma and it’s only 70 mm! Then I unclicked “show external armour” to see if the real armour was underneath. Nope. It’s 36 mm! Then I checked Bismarck. Full armour belt showing. What gives??? This is BS beyond BS. No wonder I am blowing up every five seconds with Roma.

Can you see that slither of orange under the red belt, you have to keep “show external armour” on to see it.

That sliver of orange is really going to protect you.

280 mm of armor is behind 70 mm, and not shown in hangar easily because they are spaced armor.

Same applies for Iowa, which also has 38.1 mm + 307 mm spaced armor system in game.

There are no missing plate in main belt. Just not easy to look at.

Not everyone can have the make believe ship with fantasy armour sadly. Its like playing with that kid who doesn’t like losing, always coming up with some other kind of super power that negates yours.
