If it’s what we’re getting from the BP, even though it is early. Right now why does the RN Luigi Cadorna have the afterwar modification of having the catapult, 40mm’s and the torpedo tubes removed in place of 20mm’s. It’s like they pass the ship into the game from suggestions but don’t say what variant of it we’ll get.
It’s not an afterwar variant. It was fitted this way in April, 1944. I cannot for the life of me figure out which allied port it was refitted at, I tried at great length to find it, but it was in April of 1944. It is very much a World War II fit of Luigi Cadorna.
You are right, I misread, but it is close to the end, and she had the refit until she was scrapped later after the war.

Gaijin called it the 1944 fit but I’m a lang modder so I don’t trust Gaijin’s years on ships even for a second, they’re usually wrong. But Gaijin was correct here in calling it the 1944. I checked their work and can confirm it is the April, 1944 fit.
just tried it out and the primary guns are shooting well below the target. Secondaries are accurate; primary guns are bugged.
The wikipedia page says it had 2 planes and it doesn’t mention anywhere that they were removed, was Gaijin just lazy because it’s very weird to have a cruiser have this large area with nothing on it
Some web sources claim that the catapult was removed in 1943.
Sadly RN Armando Diaz is also missing scout planes on the dev server so far.

Luigi is strong but I wouldn’t call it overpowered. A boiler hit can lose upwards of 60% of its crew.

HMS York doesn’t. Think the most I’ve lost on a boiler hit is about 10%.
It’s not even 5.0 and she got good survivability in exchange of terrible shell for 5.7

20.3cm SAP is actually fairly good. It can ammo detonate a hipper at 11km.
The dispersion is astronomically ass though. HOPE YOU LIKE GAMBLING.
And what these results show? Good battles happen in naval part of the game with a bit of luck and Cadorna is fighting a lot of other Cadornas (including people who have never touched naval) currently, plus bots.
Cadorna class can be 5.3, but at 5.0 it’s fine imo. It’s basically Colleoni with better RoF. I would actually say it should be 5.3, but with decompression and current 5.3 and above go 0.3 higher in br.
When compared to the other 5.0 BR cruisers (Duguay-Trouin and Omaha) and some 5.3 BR cruisers this ship compares very favorably to them all.
Guns are great, with solid AP ammo that allows you to punch above your weight class, number of barrels is average and fire rate is above average for the tier. Armor is trolly, but still exists (Duguay-Trouin literally has no protection and can be crew killed without ever penetrating the “caissons” around the magazine and engine room) and their module layout makes their magazine hard to hit reliably for a fast kill.
After fighting them constantly I think they could handle 5.3 without too much issue. Sure, they don’t have torpedoes or airplanes and bleed crew badly if their engine room is penetrated, but they are significantly better than the other (actually) totally unprotected cruiser of the same BR.
I didn’t know this for Luigi.
Cool, I can point blank brawl one with impunity if I use my british lineup (5.3).
What about German Emden? It looks very close in capabilities and sits at 5.0.
About torpedoes I actuallly like more when they are not presented, because I play exclusively RB, where they are not that useful. Scout plane can be useful sometimes, but Ro.43 is kinda meh anyway.
Armando Diaz has both though.
Talking about different modes, would be actuallly nice if ships had different br depending on mode, especially those which rely on torpedoes.

Much worse firepower with none protected ‘mount’ that is placed all over the hull that cannot be concentrated
Emden’s armour seems little better but has worse magazine position, and in usual combat range both can penetrate each armor, while Luigi can angle with fire concentrated but Emden cannot.
