In the new flag selection feature the Rising Sun/Japanese Naval Ensign is not avaliable. The last major update changed the flag to the modern Japanese flag. With the new feature being able to select older flags/operator country flags to display on your main menu ui now we should have this as an option for selection.

That makes no sense as they stated the reason for the change was:
“The Japanese naval ensign (Rising Sun Flag) has been replaced with the Japanese national flag to better match most flags used in the game.”

Yeah all these countrys get some naval flags, so Japan should get the Japanese Naval Ensign

Yeah, it wouldn’t be a problem if other’s ships doesn’t get naval flags, but in same time japanese ships gets national flag instead of naval.
I know many likes jap. navy flag, but i wanted national flag all this time, but anyway if everyone have navy flag japans also must

That’s because it’s not a national flag.
The flag wasn’t changed to the modern Japanese flag, it was changed to the flag used for over 100 years.
No other country is using non-national flags in War Thunder.

ROC don’t get its national flag. Current one is only a army flag

On flag topics, there used to be RSI flag for some Italian planes used only by ANR (at least Bf-109G-14/AS), wasn’t it? Or I mixed smth up?
ROC, one of the five major victorious Allied nations in WW2, did never got its national flag in this game, not even the next biggest ever update of faction.

While that’s true, it looks like other tech trees have access to naval flags now. Germany, USSR and the UK seem to, for example.

Germany’s is just a censorship to comply with laws [and not upset players].
All censorship is arbitrary, so arguing over that one is going to be a pedantic argument, and one I’m uninterested in. I don’t get offended at any of them, so I just don’t care.
USSR and UK use their national flags.
If an operator country has an incorrect flag, the bug report website is a useful tool for reporting incorrect flags.
Which is a good idea now that you can put any flag onto any tech tree.
Not what I meant, they also have the imperial naval flag and the Weimar naval flag, it’s posted by another player in a screenshot above.
Again, look at the screenshots: you have access to both the national flag of the Russian Empire and the ensign of the imperial navy.
Where is the flag setting located? I can’t find it.
