Richelieu: The Last French Gunslinger

I wonder if the weaker AA refit will be added in a folder

But tell me the reason behind that.
Is it because it’s ludicrous to give the 1%ers the same level of attention as your money making modes ?

@Der_Zerkquetscher
Yes, helicopter modes are dead for multiple reasons and it’s a good thing Gaijin isn’t dedicating any more time to those. Some modes are destined to fail and saving those is futile outside using some wild moves that might heavily backfire.

If WT kept Sim and Naval and ditched everything else I think we’d be speaking of WT in past tense.

They might be the part of a different team, but all of them work for money, which is the important thing here. If you remove the people working on ships, you all of a sudden get some money that can be allocated for other things, like adding more people to the map design team, thus increasing the amount of work that can be done in that regard.

I’ve read your reworking notes and I’m pretty sure Naval will never get any meaningful decompression if they don’t get a massive spike in player base.
Your point of “improve maps” is very vague and might lead to a giant rabbit hole and a money pit which, when looking at your 4th point, is very likely.

What you wrote in your 4th point requires a lot of design changes when it comes to maps and balancing all of that would require a lot of trial and error. Doing all that might increase Naval’s player base, yes, but it also might be foolish to not spend those resources into making other modes, which are more popular to begin with, much better.

Vast majority of the player base is already hooked to ground/air, so if you fix their common woes it might make much more people happy, thus making them spend money on your game.

I get your points, i still think that for the exquisite price of 80€ for one (almost) top tier plane or any vehicle, also the upcoming top tier premium ships it should be possible to:

-Increase the map area by 3-5 km in each direction (mind you, the maps there already exist, its just the playable area that needs to be increased slightly), optional: add some more islands/cover.
-Move each spawn 2 km further out
-substitute the coastal spawns for destroyer/cruiser spawns in 6.0 battles and up
-adjust the match timer/ticket drain to go with the bigger distances that need to be covered until a cap can be pushed or is under control of one team and the time it takes to be able to contest another one after being sunk.

These ships, especially at top tier and with how the aiming and armor works are designed for long range combat, at distances closer than 2 km its just hopeless. But maybe the 3 cap gamemode with 3 caps in the middle and each easily in range from the spawns doesnt work when it takes you 10 minutes to cover that distance (putting you closer and into more danger) and recap (with 0 time to do so) while you can die anytime from anywhere on the map.

As a starter

Srsly how much work can that be?

No one is asking for the same level of attention, rather for fixes for the modes issues. Seriously, one naval focused update isn’t the end of the world.

Again, no one is asking for the other modes to be discontinued.

Do you have insider knowledge? Again, there’s no proof of naval being a deficit, no proof naval models are why air and ground vehicles are buggy and no proof why gajin won’t address issues

Again, your going into a naval thread essentially telling naval players that you know more about the mode you have no interest in trying while also claiming you know gajin’s plans and financial status and then go on to proclaiming that navals a dead weight will providing no factual evidence that naval is the reason for warthunders shortcomings. There were a few people before who expressed gripes and fears with the mode in a much politer and sensible way.

Again, if you want to keep talking on why you think naval’s the biggest problem in warthunder, go and make your own thread and stop barging into naval threads with a demeaning tone with presumptions.

big-bang

Ground mains realising that air and naval might also get content on occasion

Also: Heli PVP was really good but instead of balancing it or adding a couple of objectives for utility helis (or map areas) and introducing 4 br brackets the mode got nuked and replaced with something way worse. So theres that as an example, but that’s offtopic…

ideally premium, but someone mentionned the fact that 2 configs being two different hulls in game are rarely a thing

It will draw people in for the very short term. They’ll log in, realize they have a painfully long grind ahead of them, and put naval down again.

Naval’s game design/map design and economy are what turns players off. And Gaijin’s lack of communication and response to player feedback is why this has remained a problem for years.

or they’ll blow 80$ on a shiny premium to get there faster
you know, like they do in their thousands with jets and tanks

not what you’d call a great situation but such is the sad state of gaming in 2025

Looks like the next devblogs out and it’s another top tier battleship

Don’t get your hopes up, air and ground sold who knows how many thousand of 60-70€ vehicles and their maps are still questionable.

I don’t know to be honest, but seeing Gaijin’s work on other mode’s core gameplay and maps, I doubt that amount of work is acceptable for them.

@PlayedStatue626-live
Read above, fixing rather complex issues with the modes themselves isn’t something that Gaijin likes to do, even for their bigger modes.

Gaijin hates decompression, which is pretty evident when looking at other modes and their struggles with it as well. If it’s true that compression in Naval is so damn bad, then it’s safe to say you’d need to make some aggressive actions in order to get it to, at least, a workable state.

damn you really had to blow my wildest fantasies to smithereens didn’t you? sub 5 km engagements with massive 50000 ton displacement ships that wont turn for shit it will be then

I can acknowledge that. I can also acknowledge simple fixes can be done, like returning optional towing. If it takes time to fix, so be it, wt seems to be doing well enough to keep going for a while. Even if naval continues to be given the least attention, then gajin can at least take each issue apart piece by piece.

Again, I’m not asking for a super update, just work being done on the side while they focus on widening lines up on the other modes.

Who knows, they might change it.
Furballs and barrel-touching knife fights are a thing and Naval looks to be affected as well.

Doing all the work listed above just casually on the side might take them years to finish, even if they want to try it in the first place.

I understand that you like Naval, but work that’s needed might just be too much to rationalize in the current state.

You will rush a cap and you will love it. And before you ask-i love it too that’s why i got no idea what to do in air rb. pls add cap points to air snail.

Fine by me. As long as gajin keeps showing interest, I can wait. Do I have full faith in them? No, but I’m willing to give naval more chances rather than torpedo it for naught.
