The Horton was heavily nerfed over the years and after release because there simply wasn’t anything like it out there that could fight it.
Now there are plenty of planes that can fight it; playing the Horton is, in some situations, simply impossible. If you try to turn to the left or right, your plane magically tilts up, and for some reason you can’t counter that; aiming is impossible if the enemy knows from what angle he has to engage you.
I hereby wish for the removal of most flight performance nerfs implemented over the years, as they are no longer “unfair.” Planes like the Su-9 and Su-11 are very unbalanced as well, and have unrealistic and unproven flight performance implemented in the game, and they are keeping it.
Many people started playing the game in the first place for very cool prototype planes like the Horton.
I think the Horton should also be remodeled because the guns are not in the right place and are for some reason angled upwards. (You can find bug reports about this as well.)
Bomblocks have been proven to have existed for the Horton series, though I don’t necessarily think they are needed as long as the 30 mm guns’ accuracy gets buffed instead, maybe.
Please add engine fire shimmer to the model as well, or at least some kind of heat indicator.
And to all those people who are mostly just here for trolling, since they go into every comment section of reports on vehicles from nations that they don’t want to be treated the same way as their mained nation. Please note this: This has nothing to do with ideology or anything else. This plane could also be in the American tech tree, and it wouldn’t change my mind or the mind of most others who already talked about this.
Please just don’t boycott this post. I can also post proof of all my demands, well most, since most demands are balance changes and don’t need proof; the mods/devs reading this should know these themselves or could look into the balance change history of the Horton.
No. Me-262 A1a is the only german jet at 7.0 that has any business dropping to 6.7 for grb as it has no ground strike capability. Ho229 would not be balanced.
The main issue is the same as other flying wing style designs.
If they recieve any amount of damage, they suddenly lose like 80% of their energy from any small change in flight direction. I fail to see how moving 20 degrees to the left will take me from 700kph to 400kph.
Wounder why Gajin nerfed Ho ground belts and cannon accuracy that severely for GRB. While russians get the Yak-9K, which is more deadly than Ho every was. Its lightweight flight model allows Yaks to dive down towards the tanks in optimal attack angles and one APHE hit and you’re gone.
Just lost another Tiger yesterday. Whole German tank lineup is unplayable. Yak-9k with killer Aphe oneshoting everything from above. And man…this plane is exploited in huge numbers.
If this Yak thing would be German, I’d guess it would have been nerfed months ago.
Just because some people like you created a method of using it doesn’t mean that other people shouldn’t be able to fly it like any other plane.
The flight behavior is simply not fair or anywhere near realistic; the Ho 229 weighs way less than the 262 but is somehow slower than it, even though it should have way less drag and be WAY faster and should have way more energy storage because of the upgraded engines, which they also nerfed.
In the IRL flight tests, it maneuvered just as well as any other plane.
In short: Just because you can use it after practicing with it for hours and are now rubbing how “good” the Horten is or how good you are with it under everyone’s nose doesn’t mean that it’s still very unfair that the nerfs haven’t been reverted yet, while planes like the Su-11 have never been nerfed as far as I know.
It’s funny how they nerfed the Ho 229 cannon accuracy but didn’t do anything like that to the Yak-9K, when a reduction of accuracy is absolutely grounded in reality.
No only that, the gun wasn’t feasible irl. The recoil was so strong there was to way to reliably use it. The flight cell took too much damage as well.
Ingame Yaks rule the skies. With extremly beneficial flight model for GRB, superior damage model vs. especially German ammunition and pinpoint oneshooting APHE shell. They are disgustingly strong, you could up the to BR 8.0 and they would still be incredibly op, oneshooting tanks.
Only radar SPAAs would tackle them a bit. Its disgusting how Yaks own GRB.
Perfectly typical war thunder player response. Instead of learning and putting in effort, you cry to the devs so things are given to you on a silver platter.
What’s wrong with certain planes having a barrier to entry?
You can’t fly the P-47, P-51, and F-106 “like any other plane”, you must have discipline, or you will die. Why can’t we have the Ho 229 require discipline too?
You like these prototype planes? Do you really? Why the lack of willpower to learn how to use them then? Why do you not want to spend hours practicing it?
I found the learning process very fun, thinking about weaknesses and how to overcome them.
As for your claims in comparison with the 262…
Spoiler
The 262 is significantly lighter
The drag on the 229 is only lower at lower speeds (and if you get to alt, 229 drag will be lower at high speed)
The 229 is faster and accelerates better than the 262 at higher alt (matches in speed at 4000m)
If any of the stats are not like real life, just go bug report with the appropriate documentation. You have access to IRL flight test data after all, of the exact model in-game.
So is the 262 too light? or the 229 too heavy? Submit a bug report.
Jabo is still able to take 2* 250kg, I won’t support 229 down to 6.7 at ARB, but only GRB. The map is small, and once HO229 needs to CAS, then the belts are useless in CAP. Considering the current HO229’s FM, it is pretty hard to aim and hard to gather enough speed, so it won’t be efficient at 6.7 as well( if it is possible, I would like to like ME262A1U1 or AR234C to 6.7)
I’m honestly enjoying the 229 in GRB, at least. Nerfing the big bombs made me realise that the 229 is fun. Even with the HVAP rounds that love to tickle the enemy instead of destroy them (it’s an assist machine).
It’s my second most played vehicle this year, thanks to Flakky:
I wouldn’t call Su-9’s Me-262 performance as “unproven”.
Su-11 is also only marginally better.
America’s F2 Banshee runs circles around Su-11s.
As for “nerfs”, those would’ve been with documents. So unless you found documents that contradict the old documents while being more valid, it’s probably not going to change.
