Effectively they have. You get punished for heavier payloads, and punished for lighter payloads. Now they’re removing the one way for bombers to win if all the fighters fail them. There is no reason to continue playing them, frankly.
So, we have one last step left until getting banned then.
- We are useless because Gaijin gelded us.
- We suffer when we play bomber
- They dislike us when we play bomber
The easiest way to solve this is to remove us from the game.
Noone plays bomber
So noone suffers.
Simple.
Airfield bombing was already almost nonexistant above rank II, and this change genuinely won’t change much unless you play rank I and II often.
I do think air RB needs to be redesigned (or we need RB EC), but bombers shouldn’t be able to auto win by pressing a few keys if fighters fail to intercept them. However they are very good in sim, and I encourage bomber players to fly their bombers there.
Though, if we look just at heavy bombers. They kinda suck as they have placeholder, low poly cockpit models that just destroy any desire I may have to touch them there.
But regardless of BR, an entire class of aircraft being chucked onto the scrap heap beacuase of bad gamemode design just sucks
I’m sorry but if fighters in the current climate fail to shoot down bombers when they have every advantage possible? The bombers most certainly deserve the victory. Especially given it generally takes multiple sorties. There needs to be improvement in the mode, certainly. But in the current climate? Heavy bombers deserve the win if they make it through. Again, the bombers present 0 threat in the current iteration.
Frequently see it playing B17s and Lancasters. Or most aircraft in that region.

bombers are bad, but making them have too much impact would be cbt for everyone else who actually wants to do more than playing cookie clicker
People already actively hunt bombers because they are easy targets, why shouldnt they have more impact?
because it requires no skill or brainpower and can literally be automated by bots, which if you look at the history of ARB or Air SIM, bombing has been botted to hell
So an entire class of aircraft are contingent on custom battles for having any gameplay?

What cookie clicker gameplay?
They are the hardest aircraft type to play, with the worst rewards. The entire gamemode is designed to actively punish anyone who dares play anything other than a fighter.
How about people wanting pure PvP gameplay go play Custom battles and we leave ARB as PvPvE?
Doesn’t stronger bombers give more fighters and most importantly heavy fighters and interceptors more purpose? It makes their actions more meaningful because failure to intercept has consequences
failing to intercept the enemy bomber headon already has consequences, you have to either turn around and kill it and lose time and position or leave it and attack other enemy planes and letting the bomber potentially climb to orbit or run to the edge of the map (can be as far as 100km on some maps)
The point is
Failing or succeeding to intercept the bomber doesn’t punish the enemy team in the slightest.
If you climbed high, did head-on,
And if we consider that we have two possible ways
1- Failed to shoot it down
You personally face consequences for that failure
But your team doesn’t.
Because the bomber can’t finish the game
2- succeed in intercepting the bomber
You get a reward
But your team doesn’t get any more than [one less enemy]
Because enemy fighters have a better overall ability to control the match than bombers.
Even if the bomber spaceclimbs and stalls the match
There is no way to let him win the match
You guys can kill other enemies and bot targets to decrease tickets and force him to lose.

Naval also can be botted, does that make naval a no skill, brainless gamemode?
Of course sideclimbing and then pressing spacebar has no skill involved, but neither does climbing and then just spraying a huge target with bullets.
But I guess it is easy for the bombers to survive and do their job after being attacked by a fighter.

Harder tactically, mechanically straight forward. But I somehow doubt this playerbase would understand the nuance in that position. It’s an issue that comes up in many games where from the outside stuff looks incredibly straightforward but engaging with it presents similar difficulty, just in a different sense.
The only reason you failed, is because the bomber had more skill than you. With few exceptions, the bombers are over BRed quite significantly.

There is already 2. With a single life per person. I seriously doubt you could actually destroy the modular AF in an ARB match. Let alone both of them. Especailly as the go-to target is the runway and destroying that disables spawns (which you cant do anyway in ARB), not repairs, rearms or refuels.
The idea is less about making it a meaningful match impact mechanic and more about just giving ground attacker aircraft of all types something to put bombs onto besides the 4x bases that are usually destroyed by fighters running Napalm
