I bought a modest amount (2500) of GE so that I could unlock a few Tier II and III vehicles early. But “Accelerated Research” using GE has never shown up once. My only option is to convert RP. I tried converting a small amount of RP into the BT-7 but that didn’t help.
Not sure if this is a bug or a feature. Please advise.
(and yes, I always invest a small amount into a game if I like it. even with Gaijin. though I may regret this one. its too soon to tell.)
Don’t.
Buy a premium plane.
Buy premium account.
Premium plane imo is the best investment. It’s permanent* (until game stops functioning or you get banned).
Premium acc is temporary, but is versatile.
Accelerated research? You get nothing of benefit. No cool plane, no premium acc benefits (ban maps, 2x income)
Mustang Mk Ia is nice if you play sim. Idk about RB/AB.
Yak-3 (french) is an amazing plane based on soviet yak-3 and within 2500 budget.
Swedish pm-1 (that finnish bf109 looking thing. pyrro something) is also an awesome plane.
Also wait for the 30% sales coming within the next month.

I don’t know if you’re new but you can only convert RP with convertible RP, hover on the RP button near the Silver Lion stats it should be a golden lightbulb. And you should see a Convertible RP stat. Alternatively, you can buy premium tanks with the Golden Eagles (it’s much better).
There’s only “two” good usages of Golden Eagles.
1- Buy Premium Time (that will boost your research speed and silver lions gains).
2 - Buy a Premium Vehicle of your choice (early ones are cheap, mid/top tier wait for a sale). Premium vehicles will also give a boost to silver lion gains and help you climb the “ranks” of the nation you’re playing at until a certain threshold.
ex: If you buy a rank 2 vehicle, it will boost your gains from rank 1 to rank 3, if you buy a rank 4 vehicle, it will boost all the way from rank 1 to rank 5, etc.
Anything else is not recommended because there’s really no need.
Edit: Crew slots are always a plus, at least the first one that costs 200 golden eagles, but not really necessary.

I logged maybe 10-15 hours back when War Thunder first came out, and I’m pretty sure back then you could just skip down the entire tech tree with GE if you really wanted to. So that was my expectation. It sounds like a good Tier II premium is the best option, since I intend on staying at Tier III for a while.
