M4A3E8 Sherman Medium tank battle rating 5.7 Smaller and more mobile yet with the same armor as the M4A3E2, the M4A3E8 saw service at the end of WWII and
frequent use in the Cold War, the M4A3E8 was the most well rounded-Sherman tank of WWII. It featured a welded hull with 47 degree sloped front armor and full
up-armored sides, it also has a wet ammunition storage for survivability, and equipped with a powerful 76mm M1main gun, which was specifically designed to counter heavy German armor, effectively engaging Panthers and Tiger1’s. Beginning in August 1944 the M4A3 model was the first to be factory-produced with the horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) system with wider tracts to distribute weight. With the smooth ride of the (HVSS), it gained the nickname Easy Eight from its experimental “E8” designation. It could accelerate quickly on all grounds, and lost little energy in turns. Deployed mainly in Eastern Europe, the Easy Eight medium tank proved devastating against medium opposition. With around 2,500 units produced, it never fully replaced the 75mm armed Shermans but was highly reliable and well-liked by its crews. As a medium tank, the Easy Eight remained in service post-war and saw significant combat during the Korean War.
gaijin is just a bit wonky with their naming, the M4A3 76W is the M4A3E8, its got the HVSS, the wider tracks, the T23 turret, and the M1A1C 76MM cannon, same with the hell pack, as the HVSS and tracks come along with the E8 upgrade, you can find the same configuration on A1s and A2s IRL
