Rename new wiki and bring back old

Rename new wiki to “Articles” or something like that and reactivate the old wiki that was actually a wiki - platform that users can edit, update and expand.

  • "A wiki invites all users—not just experts—to edit any page or to create new pages within the wiki website, using only a standard ‘plain-vanilla’ Web browser without any extra add-ons.
  • “Wiki promotes meaningful topic associations between different pages by making page link creation intuitively easy and showing whether an intended target page exists or not.”
  • “A wiki is not a carefully crafted site created by experts and professional writers and designed for casual visitors. Instead, it seeks to involve the typical visitor/user in an ongoing process of creation and collaboration that constantly changes the website landscape.”

Thanks,
JM

Yea, the new wiki is complete bullcrap, whoever even thought of the new format should get a hard smacking.

Even vital stuff like ammo rack placements and the pros and cons section are missing, the new wiki is just useless

New wiki is just a copy pasted stat card, with maybe some text from the old wiki in the overview.

+1 new wiki is so bad and have less info !
the old wiki had ton of info and stats and history
or they could copy everything from old wiki to new wiki

Have ever someone considered a community-maintened unofficial Wiki for War Thunder? If you aren’t satisfied with the service provided, do it yourself. Myself included, I’d like to take part of this if it was something more people is considering to put time to do.

This is something i would absolutely love to see, especially with how many new vehicles that are missed out on in the old one due to it no longer being maintained that i would love to be able to see the more comprehensive stats on and history of

I did.
There are websites like https://www.fandom.com/ (general fan made wiki) or https://fextralife.com/ (gaming oriented wikis however looks to be RPG oriented) that allow you to create fanmade wikipedia but you need to create account if you want to edit. Which kind of smells because some people wont bother making account to do some minor edits.
Then, Im afraid few people who will be enthusiastic at start will slowly drop off because of IRL stuff.
Then, obviously, I dont want it so much that I would need to pay for it because we run into disc space or what ever issue.
And lastly, most of these wikis have strict ToS about copyright. So Gaijin can burn whole wiki with single email saying they are owner of the images…

ChatGPT suggested more wiki platforms. Like https://www.wiki.gg/ or https://miraheze.org

Update: Fandom.com is out of game because someone created (and abadonded) wiki there.

They should also update or remove the Encyclopedia – it’s so old it only references Air stuff

MediaWiki is the most professional and reliable engine software for Wikis, same used in the old Wiki, same in use in Wikipedia and so on, the issue is maintaining costs that would require paying for domain name, hosting services or maybe Ads (which would be very annoying depending on the platform such like Fandom).

There are no citation in War Thunder terms of service claiming ownship for in-game screenshots, it only applies to in-game assets, songs, official pictures, codes and graphics. Gaijin ownship isn’t the problem — cost is.

And I’m not willing to assist using platforms such like Fandom and any other “game-specialized” Wikis and blogs for such work considering most of them are very limiting and would take more time than in engines like MediaWiki.

Ok, pay for hosting and count me in.
